Abstract: The present application discloses an axial operator that is configured for use with a door assembly. The axial operator comprises a rotatable operator output member that rotates about an operator axis, the operator output member being constructed and arranged to be operatively connected within the door assembly such that the operator output axis extends generally vertically. An electric motor has a rotatable motor output member that rotates about the operator axis. The motor is constructed and arranged to selectively rotate the motor output member about the operator axis. A reduction transmission is connected between the motor output member and the operator output member. The reduction transmission is constructed and arranged such that the transmission rotates the operator output member at a lower rotational speed than a rotational speed at which the motor rotates the motor output member and applies a higher torque to the operator output member than a torque which the motor applies to the motor output member. The reduction transmission comprises (a) an orbit gear, (b) a planet gear carrier, and (c) a planet gear. The motor is adapted to be communicated to a controller so as to receive a door moving signal therefrom and being further adapted to selectively rotate the motor output member in response to receiving the door moving signal to thereby rotate the operator output member so as to move the door panel with respect to the doorway as aforesaid.

Abstract: A fixed clamp and shear member is provided in a combination clamping, sealer and shearing device with a strap guide opening extending through the clamp and shear member adjacent a free end of that member serving as an abutment face which cooperates with a movable clamp for clamping a leading end of strap trained from a strap supply through the strap guide opening and into a loop about an article to be bound. A movable shear member is mounted for sliding movement on the fixed clamp and shear member and is reciprocable between a retracted position, wherein the strap guide opening is exposed for strap feeding and tensioning, and an extended position wherein the movable shear is in lapping relation to the strap guide opening of the fixed shear and clamping member to effect strap shearing. The movable clamp in its operative clamping position serves as a stop for the movable shear and establishes a seal pressing position for the movable shear intermediate its retracted and extended positions wherein the movable shear presses opposed heated strap surfaces into a fused seal after withdrawal of a pivotably supported heating element from between the strap surfaces and before the movable clamp is released to permit final movement of the shear member into its extended position to shear the strap in the strap guide opening from the strap supply.

Abstract: An overhang door of sectional construction of the type commonly found employed in garages is provided having a rolled overlapping joint formed between adjacent panel sections. The door is composed of at least a pair of panel sections each having a substantially rectangular configuration. Each of the pair of panel sections includes a first roll having a radius of a first dimension formed along and adjacent to the edge of one of the long sides of the panel section and a second roll having a radius of a second dimension formed along and adjacent to the edge of the other of the long sides of the panel section. The second roll of one of the pair of panel sections is operable for receiving therewithin the first roll of the other of the pair of panel sections when the edges of the corresponding long sides of the pair of panel sections are placed in overlapping relation. A first stile means is supported on one of the pair of panel sections at a right angle to the major axis thereof and with one end of the first stile means being located adjacent to the first roll of the panel section. In addition, a second stile means is supported on the other of the pair of panel sections at an angle to the major axis thereof and with one end of the second stile means being located adjacent to the second roll of the panel section. Hinge means are provided including a first hinge portion operatively connected to the aforereferenced one end of the first stile means and a second hinge portion operatively connected to the aforementioned one end of the second stile means operable to establish a joint connection between the pair of panel sections wherein when the first and second hinge portions are moved relative to each other the first roll of the aforereferenced one of the pair of panel sections moves within and relative to the second roll of the other of the pair of panel sections.

Abstract: A mitre box embodying improved indexing means is provided for use in cutting the ends of two pieces of material at an angle to enable the two ends to be fitted together to form a joint. The mitre box includes a base which is supported on a pair of archlike legs. The latter legs are positioned in suitably spaced relation relative to each other and are operable to provide a support means for supporting the mitre box on a suitable support surface. Mounted on the base is an indexing plate which is used for purposes of identifying the angle at which the ends of the strips, i.e., pieces will be cut. A swivel assembly is mounted on the mitre box for pivotal movement relative to the indexing plate. The swivel assembly cooperates with the indexing plate to determine the angle at which cuts will be made. A pair of upright assemblies are supported at the opposite ends of the swivel assembly whereby they extend substantially perpendicularly to the plane of the swivel assembly. The pair of upright assemblies function as a guiding and aligning means for the saw during the cutting operation. A wedge may be also employed with the mitre box for use in obtaining a 30* angle.

Abstract: An aligned connection is provided between a hammer head and a handle without the necessity for fixturing by providing the tool head with a closed handle-receiving eye having a conical interior end wall, a handle loosely received within the eye to provide an annular space extending fully around the handle and a trim collar extending into the annular space. The innermost end of the handle engages the conical end wall to center the end of the handle within the eye and the preformed annular trim collar circumscribes the handle at the entrance end of the eye to assist in alignment of the handle within the hammer head. The trim collar includes an exposed trim portion and a concealed skirt portion, the latter having substantially the same cross-sectional dimensions as the annular space defined by the eye and the hammer handle. Fluid bonding material initially placed within the closed handle-receiving eye is displaced by the innermost end of the handle as it is brought into engagement with the conical end wall and the annular skirt portion of the trim collar is disposed within the annular space by a force fit connection to effectively align the handle within the eye and retain the handle in its aligned condition while the fluid bonding material hardens or sets to a solid impact resistant bonded state. The exterior trim portion of the trim collar provides a neat finished appearance to the handle connection.

Abstract: A switch activating hinge comprises a pair of adjacent, pivotally connected hinge leaves, a magnet mounted on one hinge leaf and a switch responsive to the magnet mounted on the other hinge leaf. Tubular casings that are closed at one end receive the magnet and the switch and each casing is inserted into an opening formed in one of the hinge leaves.
