Compounds and methods for inducing protective immunity against tuberculosis are disclosed. The compounds provided include polypeptides that contain at least one immunogenic portion of one or more M. tuberculosis proteins and DNA molecules encoding such polypeptides. Such compounds may be formulated into vaccines and/or pharmaceutical compositions for immunization against M. tuberculosis infection, or may be used for the diagnosis of tuberculosis.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for the therapy and diagnosis of cancer, particularly lung cancer, are disclosed. Illustrative compositions comprise one or more lung tumor polypeptides, immunogenic portions thereof, polynucleotides that encode such polypeptides, antigen presenting cell that expresses such polypeptides, and T cells that are specific for cells expressing such polypeptides. The disclosed compositions are useful, for example, in the diagnosis, prevention and/or treatment of diseases, particularly lung cancer.

Compounds and methods for diagnosing tuberculosis are disclosed. The compounds provided include polypeptides that contain at least one antigenic portion of one or more M. tuberculosis proteins, and DNA sequences encoding such polypeptides. Diagnostic kits containing such polypeptides or DNA sequences and a suitable detection reagent may be used for the detection of M. tuberculosis infection in patients and biological samples. Antibodies directed against such polypeptides are also provided.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for detecting the presence of guanidinium ions in a sample solution. The detection process involves contacting a sample solution suspected of containing guanidinium ions with a cation exchange resin and eluting the guanidinium ions present in the sample solution with an aqueous buffer solution having a pH of about 1.5 to about 2. This is followed by contacting the eluant with a cation suppressor column and simultaneously flowing a suppressor regenerate solution in the opposite direction on the opposite side of the permeable membrane of the column, and finally, detecting the presence of guanidinium ions in the eluant from the ion exchange column which was contacted with the suppressor column by use of a conductivity detector.
