摘要: A remotely operated manhole cover for a tanker, trailer, or other storage unit is provided. The manhole cover includes a hollow neck which is welded in place in the shell of the tanker or trailer. The neck defines an opening which allows access to the interior of the tanker or trailer for filling or cleaning of the tanker. A lid is pivotable about an axis between a closed position in which the manhole cover is closed, and an open position in which the lid is clear of the neck opening to allow access to the interior of the tanker. The lid is provided with an inflatable seal and locking flanges which extend from a rim of the lid. Movable locking members are provided on the neck and are movable between a locked position in which locking member engages the lid locking flange and an unlocked position in which the locking members are disengaged from the lid locking flange. Separate actuators are provide for the cover and the locking members. A control unit is provided to energize the cover and locking member actuators and to inflate and deflate the seal. The control unit activates the locking member and lid actuators and inflates or deflates the seal in sequence to unlock and open the lid or to close and lock the lid. The control unit includes a manually operable switch assembly which activates the manhole cover to open and close the lid. The switch assembly is located remote from the manhole cover, and preferably near the bottom of the tanker.

摘要: A form-fitting cover has a top panel that has an elastic stretch in a least one linear direction in the range of 25 to 150% and a skirt attached to and depending from the periphery of the top panel. The skirt has an upper edge that has an elastic stretch at least equal to the elastic stretch of the periphery of the top panel. The skirt further has of an elastic or inelastic stretch that is at least as large as the elastic stretch of the periphery of the top panel.

摘要: A method for writing data to a display, wherein logical segments (groups of rows) are dynamically redefined to displace the intersegment boundaries and delocalize inter-pixel electrical fields occurring across the intersegment boundaries. One particular method includes the steps of grouping rows of a display to define the logical segments, writing data to at least one of the logical segments, writing a predefined value to each of the logical segments, regrouping the rows of the display to redefine the logical segments, and writing data to at least one of the redefined segments. Code contained in an electronically readable medium, for example a memory device, causes a display driver circuit to write data to a display in accordance with the described methods.

摘要: TDMA communication system having forward channel communications and corresponding reverse channel communications between mobile users and a zone manager in an arbitrarily large broadcaster zone established by a broadcaster. The users are located within the broadcaster zone and the collectors are distributed in proximity to the broadcaster zone. The zone manager operates to control the selection of users to form user groups and for selecting collectors to form collector groups such that the difference between the propagation times from broadcaster to user to collector among users active with the same collector does not exceed a synchronization error such that user reverse channel signals at the collector are isolated from each other. Users are selected such that each of the users in the user group are located at a distance from each of said other users in the user group not greater than a distance UR.sub.max. Collectors are selected such that each of the collectors in a collector group is located at a distance from each of the other collectors in the collector group not greater than a distance C.sub.max where CR.sub.max is a value such that user reverse channel signals at the collectors are isolated.

摘要: An orthodontic applicance for preventing unwanted rotation of a tooth during its translational movement along a main guide-wire. The appliance is adapted to be held by at least one bracket affixed to a tooth. The appliance includes a main spring assembly for causing, when activated, translational movement of a tooth along the main guide-wire to reduce space between the tooth and another tooth. An auxiliary spring assembly, which is separate and spaced from the main spring assembly, includes a spring and a mesial leg extending from the spring. The auxiliary spring assembly is used to substantially prevent unwanted rotation of the tooth being moved in a lateral direction. Orthodontic wire, which includes an anchoring end, interconnects the auxiliary spring assembly and the main spring assembly. In the preferred embodiment, the mesial leg and spring are connected to a side of the bracket while the anchoring end is connected to another tooth other than the tooth having the bracket to which the auxiliary spring assembly is connected.

摘要: A circuit for detecting the occurrence of a shorted diode in the rotating rectifier of a brushless alternator. A comparator has connected to it signals representing the base drive to the voltage regulator output transistor and the voltage at the terminal of the generator field winding connected with the collector-emitter circuit of the output transistor. The occurrence of a field winding terminal voltage of the order of the voltage at the anode of the diode which shunts the voltage regulator output transistor, in the absence of a drive signal to the transistor, indicates that there is a shorted rectifier diode.
