Abstract: The disclosure relates to the technical field of traction batteries, and in particular to a battery pack and a vehicle comprising the battery pack. The invention aims at the problem of large heat loss in the existing traction battery in a low-temperature environment. To this end, the battery pack of the disclosure comprises: a frame internally formed with an installation site; a battery module mounted in the installation site and comprising a number of cells; and a side beam connected to an outer side wall of the frame and made of a first thermal insulation material. The above arrangement can reduce the heat transfer coefficient of natural convection between the side wall of the frame and the environment, and reduce the heat flux, thereby reducing the temperature loss of the cells.

Abstract: A temperature controlled enclosure that includes a temperature control device for controlling the temperature within an internal cavity of the temperature controlled enclosure. The temperature controlled enclosure also includes one or more charging ports for receiving and charging a battery pack. A controller within the temperature controlled enclosure controls the temperature within the internal cavity to a predetermined or desired temperature (e.g., 20° C.). When a battery pack is received in the one or more charging ports, the temperature of the battery pack can be determined. If, for example, the temperature of the battery pack is below 0° C., the battery pack is allowed to warm up inside the temperature controlled enclosure before the battery pack is charged.

Abstract: A battery electric device includes a battery cell, e.g., a pouch, prismatic, or cylindrical cell, connectable to an electric load, and a direct-to-air thermoelectric assembly (TEA) or another heat pump connected to a surface of the cell. A pressure control device maintains constant pressure on the cell surface when the cell is connected to the load. Connection to the load causes the TEA/heat pump to pump heat from the cell. A sensor, e.g., thermocouple(s) and/or heat flux sensor(s), generate an output voltage signal indicative of the quantity of heat. A battery system includes the device and a processor in communication with the cell, the load, and the power supply. The processor generates an electronic control signal in response to the quantity of heat.

Abstract: An electric energy management system with thermoelectric power supply conversion function includes a controller, multiple first battery modules, a second battery module and a connection switching module. Each first battery module includes a first battery and a thermoelectric unit. The multiple first battery modules and the second battery module supply power to high-voltage equipment and low-voltage equipment, respectively. Connection ends of the multiple thermoelectric units are connected to the connection switching module. When the first batteries are discharging, the controller controls the connection switching module to make the thermoelectric units connected in series between the two series connection ends for supplying electric energy to the second connection end of the second battery module. The thermoelectric unit converts the thermal energy generated by the first battery and provides it to the low-voltage device, thereby reducing the electrical energy that the second battery module outputs and improving energy utilization efficiency.

Abstract: A battery for a vehicle and a method for controlling the same are provided. The battery includes a housing in which a plurality of battery cells are disposed and a thermoelectric element that is disposed between the plurality of battery cells and provided with electrodes connected in a zigzag configuration. Since heat flows in a lengthwise direction of the battery cells, heat transfer efficiency with respect to the battery cells is significantly improved. By directly attaching the thermoelectric element to the battery cell, a gap between the battery cells is reduced, and a temperature of each battery cell is individually managed with ease.
