Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of selectively charging or discharging a system with multiple battery packs connected in parallel when at least one of the battery packs has a significantly different voltage or states of charge (SOCs) than the other battery packs. The method includes charging or discharging the battery pack(s) with a voltage or state of charge (SOC) farthest from a target value until the voltage(s) or SOC(s) is within a range of another battery pack at which point the battery packs may be connected and charging or discharging can resume for the set of connected packs. This process is repeated until all the battery packs are at a predetermined minimum or maximum voltage or SOC threshold. The present disclosure also provides a method for selectively operating and charging at least one of a plurality of battery packs depending on the respective states of the battery packs.

Abstract: A method includes receiving an indication regarding a deceleration event for a vehicle, remapping a response of a prime mover of the vehicle from following a first response curve to following a deceleration response curve in response to (i) the deceleration event and (ii) a speed of the vehicle being greater than a speed threshold, and activating an output of the prime mover to accelerate the vehicle at a relatively lesser amount of depression of an accelerator from a non-depressed state of the accelerator than prior to the deceleration event in response to the accelerator being engaged by an operator following the deceleration event.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a route circuit and a stop-start circuit. The route circuit is structured to estimate a number of charging locations for an energy storage system of a vehicle for a planned route. The stop-start circuit is structured to determine a stop-start strategy for an engine of the vehicle based on the estimated number of charging locations and expected charges to be received by the energy storage system. The stop-start strategy defines a frequency and duration of using the engine in an on-mode during operation of the vehicle along the planned route. The stop-start circuit is further structured to determine that the energy storage system fails to receive an expected charge at one of the charging locations, and update the stop-start strategy to compensate for failing to receive the expected charge by increasing use of the engine in the on-mode during operation of the vehicle along the planned route.

Abstract: A system is provided for performing an automated electrification operation for an electric vehicle (102) using a processor (122). An electrification controller (126) communicates with a model generation unit (128). The model generation unit (128) generates a model representative of a power consumption trend of the electric vehicle (102). The electrification controller (126) sets a target power margin for the electric vehicle (102) based on the model such that the target power margin is close to a minimum state-of-charge (SOC) threshold of an energy storage supply (124) of the electric vehicle (102). The target power margin represents a difference between the minimum SOC threshold and an ending power level of the energy storage supply (124) after completion of a mission associated with the electric vehicle (102). The processor (122) performs the automated electrification operation for the electric vehicle (102) based on the target power margin.
