    摘要: A method and apparatus to provide a large bore hook hanger system incorporating sand exclusion at a junction in a multilateral wellbore includes the running of a lateral liner having an expandable sleeve positioned thereon to bridge a milled window from the lateral borehole to the primary borehole, expandable sleeve including a pre-machined window and a hook to hang the liner from the primary borehole. The hook further acts to center the pre-machined window in the expandable sleeve to provide access to the primary wellbore. The expandable sleeve is preferably covered on its outer surface with an elastomeric material and is outwardly concentric to an expandable packer for run-in. Once the expandable sleeve is positioned at the appropriate location in the junction, the expandable packer is inflated thus permanently deforming the expandable sleeve into contact with the open hole of the lateral borehole thereby preventing sand or gravel ingress to the primary borehole.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an improved method for multilateral completion and cementing (i.e., sealing) the juncture between primary and lateral wellbores. The completion method of the present invention addresses the issue of cementation and sealing of junctures between vertical and lateral wellbores. It is desirable to have the ability to re-enter each lateral wellbore as well as maintain the option to perform any function that could be done in a single wellbore. For this reason, cemented and sealed lateral wellbores are desirable so that normal isolation, stimulation or any other operation can be achieved. The method allows sealing and reworking of either wellbores with single laterals or multiple laterals and provides safe durable junctions therebetween. The method of this invention utilizes a "hook" liner hanger system. The Hook liner hanger system includes a novel camming surface and guide slot which cooperates with a complimentary control lug to selectively direct a tool in a primary or lateral wellbore.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for producing through a casing without perforation are disclosed. The casing can be rotated while it is cemented and includes a multiplicity of sliding sleeve valves. Each of the valves selectively covers a plurality of pistons, each of which preferably has a rupture disc mounted therein. A pressure-regulating device is provided in association with each rupture disc to ensure retention of sufficient internal pressure in the tubing such that all discs eventually burst without any short circuiting through the discs which ruptured earlier. The outward movement of the pistons acts to assist in fracturing the formation. Thereafter, the pressure used to rupture the discs aids in further channeling the fluid energy of the fluid rupturing the discs, as well as putting additional pressure on the movable pistons to further stress fracture the formation.As the piston is pumped outward, the grease that is held captive within the piston assembly is forced outward through a bladder. As the grease is pumped out, it displaces the cement slurry and flushes the face of the formation directly in front of the piston. Serrations on the end of the piston assembly concentrate the stresses, causing the piston assembly to bite into the formation. As the piston continues to penetrate the formation, the grease is ejected through the serrations, which helps to further flush the face of the formation. The ejected grease also tends to act as an inhibitor which prevents the cement from setting up in the area around the piston. The interior of the piston assembly will still contain grease which helps prevent the temporary restriction from dissolving.

    摘要: In accordance with the present invention, a plurality of methods and devices are provided for solving important and serious problems posed by lateral (and especially multilateral) completion in a wellbore including methods and devices for sealing the junction between a vertical and lateral well. Methods are disclosed wherein deformable devices are utilized to selectively seal the juncture between the vertical and lateral wells. Such deformable devices may comprise (1) an inflatable mold which utilizes a hardenable liquid (e.g., epoxy or cementious slurry) to form the seal; (2) expandable memory metal devices; and (3) swaging devices for plastically deforming a sealing material.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for selectively shifting a tool member in a subterranean well, such as a sliding sleeve of a ported element, which may be carried on a continuous length of remedial tubing, or other conduit into the well and insertable through a second conduit, such as production tubing. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical housing with a fluid passageway therethrough. Means are carried by the housing for selectively indicating proximity of the apparatus relative to the auxiliary tool, or ported member of a sliding sleeve. Actuating means are positioned by longitudinal manipulation of the first conduit, or remedial tubing, and movable into engaging position with a ported member, upon a first movement of the first conduit in a second direction to resist movement of the apparatus in the second direction. Normally retracted, selectively expandable shifting means are carried by the housing and movable to an expanded position by further movement of the first conduit in the second direction to move the shifting means into expanded position to interengage the movable means of the auxiliary tool, or ported member. Hydraulic means, including a piston, are activatable to drive the movable means of the auxiliary tool, thereafter, in one of opening and closing directions, or into actuating position, when the shifting means are in the expanded position. Releasing means are provided for moving the actuating means into disengaging position and for moving the shifting means thereafter into the normally retracted position, for retrieval of the tool to the top of the well.

    摘要: In one embodiment telescoping members are extended to bridge an annular gap either before or after it is cemented. Some of the telescoping members have screens and others have flow passages that can be selectively opened with associated valves to frac an interval in any order desired. The valves are then closed after the frac job and the other telescoping members are made to allow screened flow from the fractured formation. In another embodiment an interval to be gravel packed and fractured has a series of screens and selectively opened valves on a bottom hole assembly such as a liner. One or more external packers are provided. The entire interval is gravel packed at one time followed by packer actuation and then selective opening of ports to conduct a fracture operation in any of the zones defined by the set packers and in any desired order.
