Abstract:
A method for operating an access point includes identifying one or more stations to receive a transmission from the access point, and generating a traffic indication map (TIM) for the one or more stations identified, the TIM in accordance with a TIM generating rule, the TIM identifying at least an offset length and a number of entries. The method further includes broadcasting a beacon carrying the TIM to the one or more stations identified, the one or more stations configured to decode the beacon according to the TIM generating rule.

Abstract:
A system and method of ANQP querying using a common ANQP group version. One embodiment of the method includes associating an original common ANQP group version with a common ANQP group, transmitting a message containing the original common ANQP group version to at least one station, associating a new common ANQP group version with the common ANQP group when an element therein is changed, and transmitting another message containing the new common ANQP group version to the at least one station.
Abstract:
A method embodiment includes receiving, by a network device, collided first and second transmissions, signaling a retransmission request to a first source of the collided first transmission, receiving a retransmitted first transmission, and recovering the collided second transmission using the collided first and second transmissions and the retransmitted first transmission.
Abstract:
An extension to the Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) protocol allows stations (STAs) to discover multiple APs via a single ANQP request/response exchange. A STA can send a single ANQP request message to request information for multiple APs, e.g., two or more neighboring APs. The receiving AP may retrieve discovery information for one or more neighboring APs, and send an AP response message including the retrieved discovery information to the requesting STA. The ANQP request message identify the multiple APs for which discovery information is sought, and may specify which information is being requested for that corresponding AP.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for associating in a basic service set (BSS) includes receiving, by a first node, a first packet from a second node and determining whether association is pursued in accordance with a first traffic type accepted by the first node and the first packet including a second traffic type accepted by the second node or in accordance with a first device type of the first node and the first packet including a second device type of the second node. The method also includes attaching the first node to the second node when association is pursued.

Abstract:
A method, network device and user equipment (UE) for sidelink measurement report are provided. The base station transmits a configuration message including a configuration indicator to a first UE, where the configuration indicator indicating the first UE to measure quality of one or more sidelink communications on resources of a sidelink resource pool in a wireless network. The first UE monitors the resources of the sidelink resource pool to obtain a sidelink measurement result in a physical sidelink channel of a sidelink communication from a second UE in the wireless network, and the first UE transmits a feedback report to the base station, where the feedback report includes an identification of the second UE and the sidelink measurement result.
Abstract:
A method for providing user equipment access to millimeter wave stations through a microwave station includes receiving an indication of millimeter wave stations operating within a microwave coverage area of a microwave station. In a microwave band, information associated with the millimeter wave stations is broadcasted to user equipment in the microwave coverage area. A request is sent to the millimeter wave stations to transmit configuration signals over a microwave band. An instruction is transmitted over the microwave band to the user equipment to perform proximity measurements of the configuration signals. According to the proximity measurements, a request is sent to a particular millimeter wave station to transmit beamforming signals over a millimeter wave band. An instruction is transmitted over the microwave band to the user equipment to perform beamforming measurements of the beamforming signals. According to the beamforming measurements, the user equipment is switched to millimeter wave operation.
Abstract:
Embodiments are provided herein for determining a synchronizing master for device-to-device (D2D) communication in a cellular network environment. In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) receives a discovery signal comprising a timing reference, and determines a transmitter of the discovery signal. In accordance with the determination of the transmitter of the discovery signal, the UE performs one of synchronizing to the timing reference in the discovery signal and transmitting a second discovery signal. The UE performs the synchronizing to the timing reference if the transmitter of the discovery is a cellular network. Alternatively, the UE transmits the second discovery signal upon determining that the transmitter of the discovery signal is a second UE that is out of coverage of a cellular network.
