    摘要: Laser-processed gradient-index (GRIN) lenses and optical interface devices and assemblies that utilize the laser-processed GRIN lenses are disclosed. A GRIN lens assembly includes a cylindrical central section having a GRIN index profile, planar front and back surfaces, an outer surface, and a diameter D1 where 200 micrometers≦D1≦420 micrometers. An annular cladding of outer diameter D2 surrounds the central section outer surface and has front and back annular surfaces and a constant or a varying refractive index. One or both of the front and back annular surfaces may be curved. An optical fiber is optically coupled to the central section at the planar back surface. An optical interface device is formed by operably supporting at least one GRIN lens assembly with a support member. An optical interface assembly is formed by interfacing two optical interface devices.

    摘要: According to some embodiments, a multimode optical fiber comprises a graded index glass core with refractive index Δ1, a maximum refractive index delta Δ1MAX, and a core radius between 10 and 40 microns; and cladding region surrounding the core comprising refractive index Δ4, wherein the fiber exhibits an overfilled bandwidth at an operating wavelength in a 900 to 1250 nm wavelength range of greater than 2.5 GHz-km. According to some embodiments the fiber exhibits an overfilled bandwidth at a wavelength between 950 and 1100 nm which is greater than 4 GHz-km. According to some embodiments the fiber exhibits an overfilled bandwidth at a wavelength between 950 and 1100 nm which is greater than 10 GHz-km.

    摘要: According to at least one embodiment a graded index multimode fiber comprises: (i) a silica based core co-doped with GeO2 and 1 to 12 mole % P2O5; the core having a dual alpha, α1 and α2, where 1.8≦α1≦2.4 and 1.9≦α2≦2.4 at the wavelength (λ) range between 840 and 1100 nm; and (ii) a silica based cladding region surrounding the core, wherein the fiber has a numerical aperture NA and 0.185≦NA≦0.25 (more preferably 0.185≦NA≦0.23). Preferably, the silica based cladding region surrounding the core has refractive index lower than that of pure silica.
