Abstract: A method of forming a coated composite article comprises treating a surface of a composite article to form a treated composite article having a plurality of voids in the surface, applying an expansive interface coating to the surface and plurality of voids of the treated composite article to form an intermediate composite article, the expansive interface coating comprising an expansive alloy, and applying a metallic coating to the intermediate composite article using one of electroless plating, electrolytic plating, and thermal spraying. Each void of at least a subset of the plurality of voids comprises an opening at the surface that is narrower than an inward dimension of the respective void.

The metal fibers extending onto the first surface are configured to bond with the metallic coating.

Abstract: A corrosion-resistant wet film lubricant composition includes a lubricating pigment, an oil, and a thickener. The lubricating pigment comprises graphene platelets and is dispersed in the oil, and the thickener thickens the wet film lubricant. The graphene platelets are oxidized and functionalized with a silane. In another example, a method of producing a corrosion-resistant lubricant includes oxidizing exfoliated graphene to produce oxidized graphene platelets, functionalizing the oxidized graphene platelets with a silane to produce functionalized graphene platelets, and dispersing the functionalized graphene platelets in a lubricant composition, wherein the lubricant composition comprises an oil and a thickener.

Abstract: An electroplating system includes an enclosure with an interior, an anode lead extending through the enclosure and into the interior, and a porous body. The porous body is supported within the interior of the enclosure for coupling an electroplating solution within the interior with a workpiece. A conduit extends through the enclosure and into the interior of the enclosure to provide a flow of nitrogen enriched air to the interior of enclosure for drying and removing oxygen from the electroplating solution.
