The resistor arrangement includes a temperature-sensitive resistor (R.sub.s), a heating resistor (R.sub.h), and compensation (R.sub.k) and bridge resistors (R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3), which are arranged to create a feedback circuit that establishes a constant temperature environment, allowing electrical measurement of the flow mass. The substrate includes a fixed portion at one end, and two unfixed legs at the other end, the two legs divided by a notch. The width of each of the first leg and the notch is from 30 to 50 percent of the total width of the substrate, while the width of the second leg is at least 10 percent of the total width of the substrate. Such a relationship between the widths of the legs and notch avoids measuring discrepancies due to flow pulsations and/or backflows over the boundary surfaces of the sensing element.

Measuring volume flows or mass flows in the intake system of motor vehicle internal combustion engines plays an important role in reducing harmful emissions. Therefore, an ultrasonic flow meter for measuring a flow velocity of a fluid flowing in an essentially laminar flow in the main flow direction is described. The ultrasonic flow meter has at least two ultrasonic transducers, the ultrasonic transducers being able to emit and/or receive ultrasonic waves at an angle α to the main flow direction which is different from 90°. Furthermore, the ultrasonic flow meter has at least one turbulator situated upstream from at least one ultrasonic transducer in the main flow direction of the fluid, which generates longitudinal eddies in at least one zone adjacent to the at least one ultrasonic transducer, in particular in a protrusion in a wall of a flow pipe and thus improves the flow of the fluid in this zone in the flow pipe. Wedge-shaped turbulators protruding into the flow of the fluid or flow grooves are provided in particular as turbulators. The ultrasonic flow meter is distinguished, in comparison with devices known from the related art, by improved signal-to-noise ratio and thus by higher measurement accuracy.

The device includes a part, which is inserted into the line at a predetermined alignment with respect to the main flow direction in such a way that a partial flow of the medium flowing in the line in the main flow direction flows through at least one measuring channel provided in the part in a first direction from an intake of the measuring channel to an outlet of the measuring channel. The device further includes a measuring element situated in the measuring channel for determining the at least one parameter. Between its intake and its outlet, the measuring channel features at least one channel segment in which a mechanism is located that causes flow vortices in this channel segment, whereby liquid droplets and solid particles are advantageously deposited on the inner wall of the channel before they can reach the measuring element.
