    Abstract: A hybrid welding device including a fuel cell and an energy storage device that cooperate to power a welding operation and/or an auxiliary operation are provided. In some embodiments, the hybrid welding device may also include an engine coupled to a generator that is configured to supplement the power provided by the fuel cell and/or the energy storage device. The hybrid welding device may be adapted to provide power for a welding operation and/or an auxiliary operation when operated as a standalone unit and/or when connected to a primary source of utility power.

    Abstract: An example welding user interface system includes: a user interface configured to receive a plurality of control inputs indicative of a plurality of weld specifications, wherein the plurality of weld specifications comprise two or more physical attributes of a weld, the physical attributes comprising two or more of a workpiece thickness, a joint type, a workpiece material, a fillet size, a penetration depth, a penetration profile, a bead width, a wire type, a wire feed speed, or a gas type; and a processor configured to convert the weld specifications from the plurality of control inputs into electrical parameters of a welding power source, and to control an output welding power of the welding power source based at least in part on the electrical parameters.

    Abstract: An example weld training system includes a display device; an input device; a processor; and machine readable instructions cause the processor to demonstrate to a user an effect of a combination of welding-related variables by: enabling the user to design a weld procedure using the input device by selecting weld parameters including weld current and weld voltage; simulating a welding operation on a simulated workpiece using the selected weld parameters in a welding model and a simulated physical welding environment to determine a modeled result of the welding operation; displaying a simulation animation of the welding operation on the display device according to the simulation; displaying the modeled result of the weld on the display device using at least one of an image of a surface of a weld bead or a cross-section of the weld bead and the simulated workpiece; and displaying information about an anomaly present in the weld determined based on the simulation, the information about the anomaly comprising at least one of a cause of the anomaly, a suggested change in one or more of the welding-related variables to avoid the anomaly, or a location of the anomaly in the image of the weld bead or in the cross-section of the weld bead.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for weld training are provided. An example weld training system includes a display device, an input device, a processor, and a machine readable storage device storing machine readable instructions. The instructions may be executed by the processor to: enable the user to design a weld procedure by selecting weld parameters; enable the user to simulate setting up a simulated physical welding environment; simulate a welding operation on a simulated workpiece using the selected weld parameters in a welding model and a setup of the simulated physical welding environment to determine a modeled result of the welding operation; display a simulation animation of the welding operation on the display device according to the simulation; and display the modeled result on the display device using at least one of an image of a surface of a weld bead or a cross-section of the weld bead and the workpiece.
