    摘要: In an IP packet communication apparatus, an operation and maintenance function capable of monitoring a transmission path is provided to a layer used to process a packet, which corresponds to an upper layer of an optical network. As one method for applying the operation and maintenance function to the packet layer, in the case of IP over PPP over WDM, an operation/maintenance frame is defined to a PPP frame so as to realize the operation/maintenance function of a PPP connection. In the case that a plurality of connections are multiplexed on the same transmission path, a maintenance frame is conducted in order to operate/manage these connections by being grouped, so that a fault occurring in the optical network is monitored. As another method for applying the operation and maintenance function to the packet layer, an operation/maintenance frame is defined to an IP packet so as to realize an operation and maintenance function of an IP flow. Also, since a plurality of flows are multiplexed on the same transmission path, a management packet is defined to operate/manage these flows to be grouped, so that a fault occurring the in the optical network is monitored.

    摘要: In a synchronous multiplex network including a plurality of multiplex transmission apparatuses, an overhead is passed through intervening multiplex transmission apparatuses such that administration and maintenance operation information is transmitted and received through the overhead between arbitrary multiplex transmission apparatuses. The multiplex transmission apparatus receives a multiplexed signal comprising a payload having a plurality of main signals multiplexed therein and overhead bytes including a plurality of administration and maintenance operation information, performs termination processing for the administration and maintenance operation information and transmission processing for the payload, thereafter converts the multiplexed signal into a different multiplexed signal comprising a payload which has been processed for transmission and a plurality of administration and maintenance operation information, and transmits the different multiplexed signal.

    摘要: A terminal multiplexer is constructed in such a manner that it can be upgraded for adapting to a change in a transmission system. Line terminating equipment (LTE) having working high speed transmission lines and protection high speed transmission lines in 1:1, is constructed from such units as two sets of 10 G interfaces responsible for interface with the high speed transmission lines, and SELH which selects a high speed transmission line for which multiplex conversion is performed in relation to low speed transmission lines. When this LTE is to be upgraded to ADM adapted for 2-Fiber BLSR, the unit SELH is replaced with SWH which performs switching of signals in each time slot between a high speed transmission line and the low speed transmission lines. Upgrading during the system operation is possible by making signal interfaces with the outside common for SELH and SWH, and by making delay times between signal input and output coincide for various signals.

When an abnormal light is inputted from the optical network apparatus side, it is cut off by the light cut-off section.

An optical line terminating apparatus (OLT) connected to plural types of ONUs having different signal transmission speeds through an optical distribution network includes an optical transmitter-receiver connected to the optical distribution network, a transmission/reception line interface connected to a wide area network, a downstream frame processing section for converting a packet received by the transmission/reception line interface from the wide area network into a downstream frame containing identification information on a destination ONU in a header, and a downstream transmission controller for modulating the downstream frame at a speed corresponding to a signal transmission speed of the destination ONU and outputting the modulated frame to an electrical/optical converter connected to the optical transmitter-receiver.
