摘要: An apparatus for detecting a deteriorated condition of an oxygen concentration sensor mounted in an exhaust pipe for an internal combustion engine for controlling an air-fuel ratio is described. The apparatus includes, in addition to the sensor, a reference oxygen concentration sensor mounted in the exhaust pipe downstream of a cleaning device, and a discrimination unit for determining the deterioration of the oxygen concentration sensor for controlling the air-fuel ratio by measuring at least one of a duty factor and a period of an output signal from the reference oxygen concentration sensor.

摘要: An additional air control device for maintaining constant air-fuel ratio in an internal combustion engine wherein an intake air which is supplied additionally through a bypass passage to the engine is controlled by controlling the movement of a drive motor coupled to a control valve mounted in the bypass passage. A gas sensor for sensing the oxygen content of the exhaust gas and an intake air flow meter for sensing the rate of intake air flow to the engine are provided. In accordance with a signal from the gas sensor and an intake air flow signal representing a delay time factor from the intake air flow sensor, the drive motor is controlled to stop or drive alternately in a skip movement fashion in either an opening or closing direction of the control valve, and a rest period of the drive motor is determined to be inversely proportional to the intake air flow rate and a driving period which is subsequent to the rest period is set to a fixed time period, thereby an air-fuel ratio is maintained at a constant value and an exhaust gas emission is controlled.

摘要: An ignition range detector for an internal combustion engine is disclosed, in which at each combustion of the internal combustion engine, a pressure signal of a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in a cylinder is integrated by a signal associated with the crank angle to produce an area S.sub.1 +S.sub.2 presenting the combustion state. At the same time, the pressure signal for a hypothetical case of misfire under the same condition is integrated to produce an area S.sub.1. It is decided whether the ratio (S.sub.1 +S.sub.2)/S.sub.1 is higher than a predetermined value .alpha. or not thereby to detect an ignition range always stably regardless of the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine including the load thereon.

摘要: An ignition timing control apparatus for internal combustion engines is constructed to retard or advance the spark time of an engine when a knocking detector in the ignition timing control apparatus detects the occurrence or non-occurrence of knocking in the engine, respectively, and to retard the spark time by a predetermined angular value irrespective of an output signal from the knocking detector when a failure occurring in the knocking detector has been detected. Further, the ignition timing control apparatus may comprise alarm means which is actuated when a failure occurring in the knocking detector has been detected.

摘要: An ignition control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is disclosed in which the ignition energy for igniting by means of a spark plug the air-fuel mixture supplied to the internal combustion engine is controlled in accordance with the flow velocity of the air-fuel mixture flowing in the neighborhood of the spark plug. An ignition coil for supplying a spark ignition voltage to the spark plug is energized by a power supply and de-energized at the desired timing of spark generation in accordance with the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. The rotational speed of the engine representing the flow velocity of the mixture is detected and on the basis of this detected rotational speed, the duration of energization of the ignition coil is variably controlled.

摘要: A deteriorated condition detecting apparatus for an oxygen concentration sensor used in an air-fuel ratio feedback control for an internal combustion engine comprises a reference oxygen concentration sensor mounted in proximity to the oxygen concentration sensor used for the air-fuel ratio feedback control and a discriminator for comparing duty factors of output signals from those two sensors to determine a deteriorated condition of the oxygen sensor. The discriminator determines the deteriorated condition when the duty factor of the sensor under test deviates from the duty factor of the output signal of the reference sensor by a predetermined amount. It converts the outputs of the respective sensors to square wave signals and integrates one of the levels of the square wave signals to determine the duty factors, and differentially amplifies the integrated signal to produce a differential output signal, which is then compared with a predetermined level to determine whether there exists a deviation of the duty factor corresponding to the deteriorated condition.

摘要: An air-fuel ratio adjusting apparatus for an internal combustion engine employing a gas sensor whose electric characteristic changes rapidly at near the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio so as to maintain the air-fuel ratio of mixture at any desired air-fuel ratio other than the stoichiometric one. A bypass valve is mounted in a bypass passage for supplying additional air to the portion of the carburetor downstream of its throttle valve. In response to the sensed signal from the gas sensor mounted in the exhaust pipe, the bypass valve is opened or closed to increase or decrease the amount of additional air. Taking advantage of the fact that there exists a delay of a definite time period between the time of generation of a sensed signal from the gas sensor and the time that the sensed signal produces an effect on the excess air factor of the exhaust gases, by causing the opening and closing speeds of the bypass valve to differ from each other, it is possible to maintain the air-fuel ratio of mixture constant within a wide range of air-fuel ratios.

摘要: An additional air control device for an internal combustion engine wherein an additional air supply to the engine is controlled by controlling the operation of a drive motor coupled to a control valve mounted in a bypass passage. The driving direction of the drive motor to open or close the control valve is controlled by a gas sensing signal representing the content of the exhaust gas and generated by a gas sensor, and the duty ratio between the drive time period .tau.a and the rest time period .tau.b of the drive motor is controlled depending on an intake air flow signal representing a delay time factor from an intake air flow meter. In deceleration operation of the engine, the duty ratio .tau.a/.tau.b is increased independently of the intake air flow signal by a deceleration signal produced by a deceleration detecting switch. The drive motor is thus controlled to drive in a skip movement fashion and to stop alternately with the duty ratio of .tau.a/.tau.b in an opening or closing direction of the control valve, thereby the air-fuel ratio is maintained at a constant value and the exhaust gas emission is controlled.
