    Abstract: A respiratory mask includes a frame including a breathable gas port, wherein the frame defines an inner chamber to receive at least one of a wearer's nasal region and mouth. The mask includes a cushion including a flange connected to the frame, an inner rim defining an opening to the inner chamber of the frame, and a sealing portion disposed between the flange and the inner rim to contact the wearer's face. The sealing portion includes a nasal seal section to span a wearer's face above the wearer's nares, side seal sections extending from each side of the nasal seal section on both sides of the wearer's mouth, and a chin seal section that extends between the side seal sections. The chin seal section is upwardly curved in an arch to follow the chin's bony contour.

    Abstract: A breathing apparatus includes components, including, but not limited to, a flow generator, a patient interface, and a delivery conduit. A connector for connecting components of the breathing apparatus includes a male connector, including a recess, extending from a first component, and a female connector, including a lever pivotally connected thereto, extending from a second component. The connector may instead include a first component including a channel; and a second component including at least one retractable pin to engage the channel upon insertion of the first component into the second component. The connector may instead include a first component having at least one retractable projection; and a second component having an aperture. The first component is configured to be inserted into the second component so that the projection is retracted upon engagement of the first and second components, and projects into the aperture upon alignment of the projection and the aperture. A switch may indicate a connection state of the connector. The switch includes a ring provided in an end of the first or second component and the ring includes a projection extending through an aperture in the end of the first or second component. The projection is movable between a first position and a second position to indicate the state of the connector.

    Abstract: A nasal mask assembly includes a relatively flexible cushion arrangement including a cushion that provides a breathing chamber and a face-contacting portion to form a seal around the patient's nose in use, an inlet tube supported by the cushion to deliver breathable gas into the breathing chamber for breathing by the patient, and three support members extending outwardly from the cushion. A relatively rigid frame is provided to a front side of the cushion arrangement. The frame includes three headgear attachment structures. Headgear includes three headgear straps engagable with the three support members and the three headgear attachment structures to maintain the cushion arrangement in a desired position on the patient's face.

    Abstract: A position sensitive illumination system for a patient includes an illumination source and at least one sensor structured and configured to selectively activate the illumination source in dependence of movement of the patient. Illumination source and/or sensor may be provided to one or more portions of a patient interface, e.g., a mask assembly, to thereby allow automatic activation of the illumination source when the patient moves to a predetermined position. Illumination source provides a directed lighted path for the patient as the patient moves about, e.g., during nocturnal visits to the bathroom, thereby avoiding the awakening of a bed partner.
