摘要: A communications system includes a plurality of different types of small coverage area base stations, e.g., femto cell base stations, WiFi access points and Bluetooth access points within a macro cell. Different user equipment (UE) devices, e.g., different smartphones, include different capabilities. In order for UE devices and small coverage area base stations with compatible capabilities to efficiently discover one another, the various small coverage area base stations and various UE devices utilize the macro cell communications band and macro cell communication protocol to coordinate device discovery and exchange discovery information and control information which allows a UE device to access a compatible small coverage area base station and subsequently communicate user data, e.g., traffic data, with the UE device.

摘要: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives discovery resource information from a base station, sends a discovery signal based on the discovery resource information, and receives from at least one user equipment (UE) a request for relaying with the base station based on the discovery signal. The apparatus may also receive a discovery signal from a relay, and send to the relay a request for relaying with a base station based on the discovery signal. The apparatus may further receive a discovery signal from each of a plurality of relays, determine to select one of the plurality of relays based on the discovery signal from each relay, and send to a selected relay a request for relaying with a base station based on the discovery signal when one of the plurality of relays is determined to be selected.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for controlling interference with regard to important control signals, e.g., synchronization signals and broadcast channel signals, are described. A configurable base station monitors for and receives signals from other base stations in its local vicinity and determines the implemented frame timings corresponding to the other deployed base stations. If possible, the configurable base station selects to use a frame timing offset which is different from the frame timing offsets being used by the other base stations. In some embodiments, symbol level and subframe level synchronization are maintained between the base stations; however, frame level synchronization may, and sometimes does vary. Different adjacent base stations may, and sometimes do, intentionally offset their frame boundaries by multiples of a subframe.

摘要: An access node may provide synchronization information to a UE. The access node may further provide one or more information blocks, which may include basic network configuration information. Based on the synchronization information and/or the information block(s), the UE may transmit a message to the access node that includes a random access preamble, an identifier of the UE, and/or a buffer status report. Based on the message from the UE, the access node may determine that the UE should remain active and, therefore, may transmit a response to the first message to the UE indicating that the UE should remain active. Thereafter, the UE may receive a connection setup or connection reconfiguration message. The connection setup or reconfiguration message may be received from the same or different access node from which the UE received the synchronization information and/or the one or more information blocks.

摘要: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for transmitting an uplink reference signal, receiving a keep alive (KA) command based, at least in part, on the uplink reference signal, and taking one or more actions to perform a handover to a non-serving base station (BS) in accordance with the KA command. Additionally, aspects provide methods and apparatus for receiving an uplink reference signal from a user equipment (UE), measuring the uplink reference signal, and transmitting a KA command to the UE based, at least in part, on the measured uplink reference signal. The KA command may be scrambled by an identifier associated with the UE. Additionally or alternatively, a cyclic prefix (CP) of the uplink reference signal may be longer than a CP of another type of reference signal.
