    摘要: A method and apparatus for performing joint channel equalization (JCE) are disclosed. JCE is implemented to reject inter-cell and intra-cell interference in a receiver. The JCE only requires the channel responses of a desired signal and interferers with respect to different antennas. In order to implement JCE, a number of discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs) and an inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) are performed and a number of independent linear systems are solved. With M antennas, the JCE is capable of completely rejecting M−1 interferers. Over-sampling with diversity may be used to increase observation dimensions to a certain extent so that a receiver with M antennas may be able to reject more than M−1 interferers.

    摘要: A language system facilitates entry of an input string into a mobile device using discrete keys on a keypad, such as a 10-key keypad. The numeric keys have associated letters of an alphabet. The key input is representative of one or more Chinese phonetic characters. Based on this input string, the language system derives the most likely Chinese corresponding language characters intended by the user. The language system uses multiple different search engines and language models to aid in deriving the most probable Chinese language characters. When the language system recognizes possible Chinese language characters, the mobile device displays the possible Chinese language characters for user selection of the possible Chinese language characters and/or further input of one or more Chinese phonetic characters. In this manner, the language system adopts a modeless entry methodology that eliminates conventional mode switching between input and selection operations.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for estimating and reporting the quality of a wireless communication channel between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a Node-B. A modulated signal is received from the Node-B over the communication channel and a channel estimation is performed on the modulated signal to provide a channel estimate. In one embodiment, the modulated signal is demodulated based on the channel estimate to provide a demodulated signal and a signal-to-interference (SIR) estimate based on the demodulated signal is obtained. The quality of the communication channel is estimated based on at least the SIR estimate. In an alternate embodiment, a SIR estimate based on the channel estimate is obtained. The quality of the communication channel is estimated based on the SIR estimate and additional information including at least one of delay spread, transmit power and WTRU velocity information.

    摘要: The number of users and data capacity of wireless systems are increased by employing apparatus and method for increasing the number of spreading codes available in the system by providing a mechanism to reuse the already allocated spreading code or use the codes that may correlate to those already being used within the same sector/cell. This, in return, provides capacity improvement proportional to the number of added base station (BS) antennas for each cell. An antenna null steering technique for code allocation maintains the cross correlation properties of the codes only for the desired user and to obtain a gain in capacity improvement.

The path searcher detects positions of paths of the received signals. The equalizers are used to perform equalization on the received signals. The multi-equalizer manager controls the equalizers by assigning specific positions of the paths to respective ones of the equalizers.     摘要: A user equipment which receives a CDMA communication signal that is wirelessly transmitted includes a system for correcting phase errors in an information signal which has been transmitted. The correction system comprises circuitry for generating a correction signal and for combining the correction signal with the information signal to produce a corrected information signal. An analyzer analyzes the phase of the corrected information signal and generates an error signal based on the deviation of the analyzed phase from a reference phase. A bandwidth controller recursively adjusts the phase of the corrected information signal such that the phase of said corrected information signal is substantially equal to said reference phase. The bandwidth controller selects a bandwidth within an adjustable range based on the error signal, estimates an offset based on the error signal, and modifies the correction signal using the offset.

    摘要: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for estimating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) based on dedicated physical channel (DPCH) pilot symbols in a wireless communication system. A receiver receives a DPCH transmission and a despreader despreads the received DPCH transmission. A selector selects pilot symbols in the despread DPCH transmission. A signal power estimator estimates signal power based on the pilot symbols, and a noise power estimator estimates noise power based on the received DPCH transmission. A SNR estimator estimates an SNR based on the signal power estimation and the noise power estimation. The noise power estimator may calculate the noise power estimation either based only on pilot symbols or based on both pilot symbols and non-pilot symbols. The DPCH transmission may be transmitted using more than one antenna for transmit diversity.
