摘要: A novel growing method is provided for pluripotent stem cells such as ES cells. The method of the invention is a pluripotent stem cell growing method and gene transfer method in which pluripotent stem cells are cultured under conditions that maintain their undifferentiated state and pluripotency, the method being characterized by using a liquid medium and a culturing vessel having immobilized or coated on a substrate solid phase surface a molecule which is adhesive to the pluripotent stem cells in a fixed concentration, to grow the pluripotent stem cells in a dispersed state while maintaining their undifferentiated state and pluripotency, without using feeder cells, or to transfer and express a gene therein.

摘要: An objective of the present invention is to analyze the function of anti-angiogenic factors in cardiac valves or such to elucidate the developmental mechanism of angiogenesis-induced diseases. A more specific objective is to provide therapeutic agents for angiogenesis-induced diseases such as valvular heart disease, and methods of efficiently screening for the therapeutic agents. The present inventors discovered that chondromodulin-I was markedly expressed in cardiac valves, and plays an important role in maintaining normal functions of the valves by preventing angiogenesis, thickening, and calcification which lead to valvular heart diseases. Chondromodulin-I proteins and substances that activate the expression or function of the proteins are expected to have therapeutic effects against angiogenesis-induced diseases.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to develop a method for purify cardiomyocytes at a high degree of purification and at a high yield from a cell mixture comprising cardiomyocytes derived from fetuses and stem cells using various features which have not been previously expected to be used for purification of cardiomyocytes or which are newly found, wherein said method is carried out without undergoing any genetic modification or without adding any special proteins or biologically active agents. The inventors of the present invention found that cardiomyocytes were effectively and highly selected and purified by culturing cardiomyocytes derived from embryonic stem cells in the culture medium under a condition selected from a low-serum-supplemented condition, a low-glucose-supplemented condition, a low-nutritional condition, a low calcium condition, a mildly-acidic pH condition, a lactic acid-supplemented condition, an aspartic acid/glutamic acid-supplemented condition, and/or a pyruvic acid-supplemented condition. The inventors of the present invention further found that the above method invented in relation to embryonic stem cells was applicable to select and purify cardiomyocytes derived from fetuses or adult stem cells.

摘要: In an optical communications module comprising one or more dielectric substrates equipped with an optical transmitter section, an optical receiver section or an optical transceiver section, and a chassis encasing all of them, a metal part is formed on one side of at least one of the dielectric substrates such that the metal part constitutes the whole or a part of the exterior surface of the chassis so that the length of heat conduction from a dielectric substrate with heat-generating components installed thereon can be minimized so as to efficiently release heat through the metal part to outside, curbing a temperature increase within the chassis. Thus, the optical communications module can exhibit excellent performance.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to achieve simple recruitment of fibroblasts into wounded tissues and engraftment of the fibroblasts in the wounded tissues, thereby healing the wounds without requiring fibroblast transplantation. Upon G-CSF administration, fibroblasts migrate into myocardial infarct lesions and prevent a reduction in cardiac function, thus alleviating cardiac remodeling.

摘要: Disclosed are a method for manufacturing a cell sheet, comprising culturing cells on a fibrin-coated surface of a substrate until the cells reach confluency, continuing the cultivation of the cells for a sufficient time period to cause the degradation of fibrin at the bottom of the cells, and detaching the cultured cells from the substrate surface in a sheet-like form to give a cell sheet; a substrate for cell sheet preparation, a surface of which is coated with fibrin; and a composition for use in coating with fibrin a surface of a substrate for cell sheet preparation, the composition comprising fibrinogen and thrombin. The invention enables to cell sheets to be manufactured by a simple manipulation using a substrate coated with a commercial, commonly available material of which safety has been confirmed.

摘要: There are provided a heat insulating tool kit for piping, which can easily be attached to and detached from a piping in a limited space repeatedly and fixed in a stable form, can be attached so that a heating surface is in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of piping so that heat is conducted efficiently, which results in no overheating of heated portion, can be subjected to temperature control stably, and can be used in a clean room etc. because dust particles scarcely occur, and a heat insulating construction using the heat insulating tool kit. The heat insulating tool kit includes a piping; a band-shaped heat insulating unit which includes at least a heat insulating material and preferably a heating element and is wrapped with a heat-resistant resin film; a support cover consisting of a tubular element of a C-shaped cross section having a slit-shaped opening over the total length in the axial direction of the tubular element; and preferably an external cover of almost the same shape as that of the support cover. The heat insulating construction is formed as described below. The heat insulating unit is housed so that the non-heating surface of the heat insulating unit comes into contact with the tubular element inside wall of the support cover 14, and in a state in which ear portions at both ends of a heat insulating portion are pulled out of the slit-shaped opening, the butting portion at both ends of the heat insulating portion, that is, the slit-shaped opening of support cover is pressed on the piping, by which the piping is covered with the heat insulating portion and the support cover. Next, the opening portion of external cover in a widened state is pressed on the slit-shaped opening side of the support cover, by which the heat insulating unit and the support cover are collectively covered with the external cover 15.
