An alloy for building up a valve according to the present invention comprises: with respect to the total weight of the alloy taken as 100%, 30 to 40% by weight of chromium; 15 to 31% by weight of nickel; 7 to 20% by weight of molybdenum; 0.7 to 2.2% by weight of carbon; 1.5% or less by weight of silicon; and balance of iron and inevitable impurities. The alloy is superior in hardness at high temperatures, PbO resistance and PbO+PbSO.sub.4 resistance. In addition, the alloy is suitable for powder buildup welding.

Positions and dimensional relations of the diameters of inner and outer ring raceways, the inner and outer diameters of the holder, and inner and outer protrusions which are provided to pillar parts of the holder to prevent the rollers from coming off are defined such that the inner and outer protrusions of the pillar parts always do not come into contact with the outer circumferential surfaces of the rollers in the state where the rollers and the holder are incorporated between inner and outer members. As a result, lubricant oil is smoothly circulated in gaps formed between the outer circumferential surfaces of the rollers and the pillar parts of the holder.

The present invention provides a rolling bearing which is excellent in strength, rigidity, heat resistance, and dimensional accuracy while being able to hold rolling elements in a stable manner and reduce manufacturing cost without degrading performance as a bearing and a manufacturing method for the rolling bearing. To achieve the object, the present invention adopts a rolling bearing including a cage provided with a plurality of pockets for housing and hold the rolling elements arranged at specific intervals in a circumferential direction in a peripheral wall of a cylindrical member. The cage is formed integrally by metal powder injection molding; and the cage includes a housing space for the rolling elements and a rolling-element fall-out prevention structure is formed by applying compressive working to an outer edge of the housing space in a direction from an outer circumferential surface toward a radial center of the cage.

A steel retainer (3), which retains needle rollers (2), is formed from a steel plate containing 0.15 to 1.10% by mass of carbon. After being formed, the steel plate is subjected to induction heat treatment which includes induction hardening and induction tempering. Such heat treatment can be carried out efficiently in a short period of time, using compact treatment facilities, even in small-lot production. The retainer (3) thus formed is sufficiently resistant to wear and surface damage, and is high in fatigue strength and fracture strength as a whole.

To further reduce the manufacturing cost of a shell type needle roller bearing, and to ensure high quality of the shell type outer ring by subjecting the outer ring to a heat treatment that needs no adjustment of the atmosphere.The steel sheet to be formed into the shell type outer ring 1 by pressing is made of a medium to high carbon steel containing carbon by not less than 0.3 mass percent. With this arrangement, the material cost and thus the manufacturing cost are lower than when using a conventional low-carbon structural alloy steel sheet or a steel sheet for cold rolling and pressing. Also, it is possible to ensure high quality of the outer ring by subjecting the outer ring to simple heat treatment without the need for carburizing or carbonitriding, which needs adjustment of the atmosphere.
