摘要: A shingle including a fibrous substrate that reduces or prevents asphalt bleed through is provided. The fibrous substrate has a top surface and a bottom surface opposed to the top surface. Asphalt coating is applied to the top surface of the fibrous substrate. The fibrous substrate includes fibers having a diameter of 3.5 microns to 30 microns and a length of 3.175 mm (⅛ inch) to 50.8 mm (2 inches). In addition, the fibrous substrate has (i) a basis weight of 39.05 g/m2 (0.8 lb/100 ft2) to 134.3 g/m2 (2.75 lb/100 ft2) and/or (ii) a thickness of 0.381 mm (15 mils) to 1.143 mm (45 mils). A ratio of the amount of asphalt coating on the bottom surface to the amount of asphalt coating on the top surface is from 0:1 to 1:5.

摘要: A submerged combustion melting system (90) includes a submerged combustion melter (100) having a housing with one or more side walls (104), a floor (106), and a ceiling (108) which at least partially define a melt chamber (110). The melter has one or more main burners (128) positioned along the floor of the housing and an oxygen/gas burner in a preheat burner system (300) removably attached to one of the sidewalls or the ceiling, the oxygen/gas burner arranged such that a flame from the oxygen/gas burner is directed downward into the melt chamber.

摘要: An emulsified drilling fluid additive includes an emulsion of asphalt, at least one emulsifier, cellulose ether, and water. The asphalt has a softening point of 160 to 212° F., a penetration depth of 0 to 45 mm, and a viscosity of 200 to 800 cP at 350° F. The drilling fluid additive has an average particle size of 0.1-10 microns. The drilling fluid has an API fluid loss at 7.5 minutes of 0 to 0.5 mL and an API fluid loss at 30 minutes of 0 to 3.5 mL. A method of making the drilling fluid additive includes mixing at least one emulsifier, cellulose ether, and water to form a solution, heating a water-dispersible asphalt to above 300° F. and adding the asphalt to the water-based solution in a colloid mill to form an emulsion.

摘要: A machine for distributing loosefill insulation material. The machine includes a chute having an inlet end and an outlet end. The inlet end is configured to receive loosefill insulation material. The chute has a first portion in fluid communication with a second portion and forms an angle with the second portion. A shredding chamber includes a plurality of shredders configured to shred, pick apart and condition the loosefill insulation material. A discharge mechanism is mounted to receive the loosefill insulation material exiting the shredding chamber. The discharge mechanism is configured to distribute the loosefill insulation material into an airstream. A blower is configured to provide the airstream flowing through the discharge mechanism. The angle between the first portion of the chute and the second portion of the chute is configured to control the descent of the loosefill insulation material into the shredding chamber.

摘要: A laminated roofing shingle has an overlay sheet having top surface and bottom surface opposite the top surface. The overlay sheet includes a headlap portion and a butt portion. The butt portion defines a series of tabs and cutouts. An underlay substrate has a top surface attached to the bottom surface of the butt portion of the overlay sheet. The underlay sheet includes a covered portion positioned beneath the tabs of the overlay sheet and a prime portion positioned beneath the cutouts. A layer of reflectivity-increasing granules and/or a layer reflectivity-increasing asphalt, is positioned on only one or both of the tabs of the overlay sheet and the prime portion of the underlay sheet.

摘要: A roofing system includes a first group of hook fasteners, a second group of hook fasteners, and a roof covering. The first group of hook fasteners is configured to be attached to a first sloped plane of a roof, and the second group of hook fasteners is configured to be attached to a second sloped plane of the roof. The roof covering has a bottom surface, and the bottom surface of the roof covering includes a plurality of loop fasteners that are configured to engage with at least one of the first group of hook fasteners or the second group of hook fasteners. When the plurality of loop fasteners are engaged with the first group of hook fasteners, the roof covering is resisted from moving in a first direction and not resisted from moving in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. When the plurality of loop fasteners are engaged with the second group of hook fasteners, the roof covering is resisted from moving in the second direction and not resisted from moving in the first direction.
