Abstract:
A deep-lip wheel cover apparatus that attaches with a steel wheel includes a wheel cover, a center cap, and a hub ring. The hub ring is centrally connected with the steel wheel so that the wheel cover and the center cap can be attached to the hub ring. The wheel cover also attaches with the steel wheel through a plurality of fastening systems, where the plurality of fastening system provide additional connection points in between the wheel cover and the steel wheel. When the wheel cover and the center cap are installed within the steel wheel, the wheel cover and the center cap completely cover the steel wheel creating a deep-lip appearance within the steel wheel.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel, including: a peripheral rim with a radially outboard spoke bed and an apex region radially inboard from the spoke bed portion; a central hub with a hub flange; and a plurality of spokes extending between the rim and hub, with a first portion connected to the spoke bed and a second portion connected to the hub flange. The apex region includes a first apex portion and a second apex portion adjacent the first apex portion and a seam between the first apex portion and the second apex portion. Including a spanning element to span across said seam to retain said first apex portion to said second apex portion.
Abstract:
An improved wheel cover tab structure is provided in which a plurality of hollow apertures having ornamental design are provided on the wheel cover, and a plurality of snap tab structure for engaging a metal ring are provided at equal interval on the inboard surface of the wheel cover. Each snap tab structure comprises: an base portion integrally formed on the inboard surface of a spoke and having a slot provided thereon; and a snap tab body connected with the base portion, the snap tab body being integrally formed in the space of the hollow aperture and having an engaging foot corresponding to the slot; a notch for placement of the metal ring being formed on the other face opposite to the engaging foot. As the base portion and the snap tab body are fully aligned with each other, the engaging foot can engage within the slot without any deviation.
Abstract:
A wheel assembly for use on vehicles in rugged conditions including, without limitation, off-road and trail conditions. A rim assembly having a rim flange is supported by a central hub member. The rim flange has a bead seat and allows a tire—including an under inflated tire—to flex without chaffing or cutting of the tire. A sacrificial abrasion ring is mounted to the outer surface of the rim flange. An optional removable accessory cap can mount to the wheel assembly to prevent mud, snow and/or other debris from collecting in the center of the wheel assembly.
Abstract:
A system for permanently securing wheel cladding to a wheel having a rim with a rim flange is provided. An annular affixment ring includes an outer periphery which seats within an undercut formed in the rim flange. A plurality of arcuate flanges extend from the inner face of the cladding and abut the inner periphery of the ring to maintain the outer periphery of the ring within the undercut. The ring includes axial apertures and the inner face of the cladding includes retention tabs having enlarged fluked ends which extend into the apertures to anchor the cladding to the ring. The ring can be constructed of one piece or formed of interfitting arcuate segments which are interlocked in end to end relationship.
Abstract:
A wheel cover assembly which includes a generally flat, circular wheel cover portion, an attachment assembly, and a manually releasable fastener selectively connecting the wheel cover portion to the attachment assembly, the wheel cover being predominately made from flexible laminar materials, the wheel cover portion comprising a mostly transparent window affixed to the manually releasable fastener, the window having an inwardly facing face which includes a flap for retaining a display card on the inside surface of the window.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel, including a peripheral rim with a radially outboard spoke bed and an apex region radially inboard from the spoke bed portion; a central hub with a hub flange; a plurality of spokes extending between the rim and hub, with a first portion connected to the spoke bed and a second portion connected to the hub flange. The apex region includes a first apex portion and a second apex portion axially adjacent the first apex portion and a circumferential seam between the first apex portion and the second apex portion.
Abstract:
A protective device for tire walls has a holder for attaching the protective device on a wheel. The protective device has protective elements connected to the holder. The protective elements are shape-stable parts that under load are elastically deformable. They extend approximately radially away from the holder. The protective elements do not protect the entire tire but only the endangered area of the tire walls.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for mounting rim accessories on a vehicle, the vehicle having rims with fasteners for fastening the rim to a wheel hub, the method including mounting of a bracket including at least two sections, the bracket having a first contact surface along its outer periphery for resting against an interesting contact surface on the inner periphery of the rim, the radially inner contact surface lying substantially parallel to and adjoining an axially outer edge of the rim. The method includes mounting the bracket such that adjoining end surfaces of the sections of the brackets are forced apart, thereby clamping the bracket fast to the rim, and mounting of an accessory on the bracket, the bracket having at least a second contact surface extending radially inwards along the inner periphery of the rim. The second contact surface is provided with at least two openings in each of the sections of the bracket for interaction with at least a corresponding number of fasteners on the accessory. The invention also relates to an arrangement for mounting such an accessory and a bracket intended for this purpose.
Abstract:
A rim protection apparatus fitted around a periphery of a rim of a motor vehicle wheel is provided. The rim protection apparatus covers the circumferential edge of the rim. The apparatus has substantially planar circular protective ring and means for fitting the protective ring around the periphery of the rim. The protective ring has a front surface and a back surface, the back surface being coupled with the rim of the wheel when the apparatus is fitted around the periphery of the rim of the wheel, the front surface being a decorative surface accenting the color and appearance of the wheel. The protective ring is fitted around the periphery of the rim with an adhesive layer disposed on the back surface of the protective ring.
