Abstract: Implantable tissue structure modification devices are provided. Aspects of the tissue structure modification devices include first and second tissue securers separated by a contraction region, wherein the device is configured to be implanted at a cardiac location and assume a first constrained length that is longer than a second relaxed length. Also provided are methods of using the devices for tissue structure modification, as well as delivery systems and kits that find use in the methods. The devices and methods of the invention find use in a variety of different applications, including valve (e.g., mitral valve) structure modification.

Abstract: An ablation catheter comprises a catheter body extending longitudinally between a proximal end and a distal end along a longitudinal axis; and an ablation element assembly comprising ablation elements connected to the catheter body, each ablation element to be energized to produce an ablation zone. The ablation elements are distributed in a staggered configuration such that the ablation zones of the ablation elements span one or more open arc segments around the longitudinal axis, but the ablation zones of all ablation elements projected longitudinally onto any lateral plane which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis span a substantially closed loop around the longitudinal axis. Since the ablation zones do not form a closed loop, the risk of renal artery/vein stenosis is reduced or eliminated. Since the ablation zones of all ablation elements projected longitudinally onto any lateral plane span a substantially closed loop, substantially complete renal denervation is achieved.

Abstract: A robot system for endoscopic treatment includes a gripping unit, a manipulator unit, a treatment instrument drive unit, a gripping force detection unit, a control unit. The gripping unit is inserted into a body cavity along with an endoscopic apparatus and grips desired living tissue using gripping members. The manipulator unit includes a multi-joint structure that enables bending and stretching. The treatment instrument drive unit pulls and pays out wires. The gripping force detection unit detects gripping force provided by the gripping members. The control unit instructs the treatment instrument drive unit to pull and pay out the wires for the gripping operation so that the gripping force detected by the gripping force detection unit falls within a predetermined range when the gripping unit in the gripping state moves.

Abstract: Disclosed is a shape memory polyamide, produced by adding a polyvalent carboxylic acid and a polyvalent amine when polyamide is polymerized from e-caprolactam or hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid, and having an aromatic component which is introduced by one or more among the polyvalent carboxylic acid and the polyvalent amine and has a total amount ranging from 0.4 mol % to 10 mol % based on the amount of the raw material for polyamide. Also, a method of producing a shape memory polyamide fabric using the shape memory polyamide is provided. The polyamide fabric produced using the shape memory polyamide is a highly functional fabric which does not easily wrinkle and easily recovers its original shape even when wrinkled, and thus may be applied as material for various kinds of clothing.
