摘要： A log construction has a pair of logs, each having an end region with a surface portion thereon, wherein the surface portions are arranged to engage one another at a boundary therebetween, the boundary having a length. At least one barrier extends across the boundary and along the length thereof to couple the end regions together, the barrier having a pair of projections. Each of the logs has a passage open to and adjacent the boundary for receiving a corresponding one of the projections. Each projection has a pair of outer surfaces and the passage having a pair of inner surfaces, the outer and inner surfaces being further arranged to generate residual compressive forces toward the boundary as a result of shrinkage between the barrier and the end regions.

摘要： An apparatus and method for rigidly joining construction elements to one another based on providing construction elements each having a connecting bore formed therethrough, positioning elements each having a connecting bore formed therethrough for aligning the connecting bores of adjacent construction elements, and partially expandable locking means dimensioned to extend through the aligned connecting bores of at least two construction elements and one positioning element. The construction elements and positioning elements are further equipped with engagement grooves and engagement ribs, respectively, for positioning adjacent construction elements in any number of predetermined angles. The locking mechanism has a radially expanding portion capable of locking the previously positioned construction elements in a rigid fashion.

A plurality of slits are formed on the end portions of wood pieces desired to be joined, and the end portions are abutted with corresponding slits in alignment to form a common surface. Each of the abutted wood end portions is fixed by temporary fixing means to a desired joining state. Thereafter, an adhesive agent is applied into the interior surfaces of the slits. Connecting plates, e.g., made of a reinforced plastic material coated with the adhesive agent, are inserted into the aligned slits. The adhesive agent is then hardened.

摘要： A structural system of modular components which promotes rapid erection of building type structures is disclosed. The modular building structure system comprises a plurality of beam members, a plurality of column support members, and a connector means for affixing the beam members into a structural gridwork. Each beam member is positioned between and aligned with two nodes of a planar assemblage of interconnected polygons to form a structural gridwork that is congruent with the planar assemblage of interconnected polygons. The column support members are positioned between two structural gridworks and aligned with two nodes, one node being in each structural gridwork. The column support members include endpieces enabling the column support members to be affixed to the structural gridwork. The connector means comprises a plurality of tubular hubs positioned at the nodes of the structural gridworks and a plurality of radial flange sets. The radial flange sets include a plurality of radial flanges spaced circumferentially around the tubular hub and extending in the directions of the beam members. The radial flanges are enabled to affix to the sides of the tubular hub and the beam members are enabled to affix to the radial flanges.
