    摘要: A self-locking wire terminal assembly and a shape memory wire termination system includes an electrical terminal constructed with spring legs which provide two opposing points of contact on a mating electrical conductive pin. The points of contact prevent the pin from being removed. The shape memory termination system is formed by electrically coupling a clip assembly to shape memory wire and to an electrical source. In one embodiment, the shape memory wire causes an actuator to activate when the shape memory wire dissipates electrical power. The terminal assemblies may be manufactured by assembling wire with conduction pads onto a continuous reel. The terminal assemblies may be formed from the reel by trimming wire and linkages between the conduction pads.

    摘要: The invention relates to a thermal tripping device which is heated indirectly by means of a heating winding and which comprises a release strip made of thermostatic bimetal, a form memory alloy or similar. An insulating intermediate layer is arranged between the heating winding and the release strip and one of the ends of the heating winding is connected to a supply conductor. The heating winding is embodied in an identically meandering manner for all current intensities and is folded about the insulating intermediate layer. In order to modify the resistance of the heating winding for other current intensities, the discharge is connected to a wiring point between the ends of the heating windings.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an actuating mechanism for actuating the moving contact of a protective interrupting chamber which is installed on a high-voltage or medium-voltage power line and which is to be opened when a current in excess of a surge current threshold flows through line, the mechanism including a drive member for driving a displacement device for displacing the contact. The drive member is a conductive helical spring made of a shape memory alloy and electrically coupled to the line, a current in excess of said surge current threshold passing through the spring heating said spring to such an extent that said alloy goes from its martensitic phase to its austenitic phase. The mechanism enables the interrupting chamber to be re-closed by means of a sequencer device associated with the displacement device, and providing an adjustable and timed opening and closing cycle.

Forward and reverse rotation switches ae provided for establishing forward and reverse motor rotation circuits when the operating member is moved to the first and second operating positions for forward and reverse rotation. A restoring member of material capable of being stored to its original stretched configuration is disposed in the casing and is supplied through the forward and reverse rotation circuits with a locking current which flows through an electric motor when the operating member moves to the second operating position.

A shape memory alloy is mechanically connected to a predetermined portion of one of the connecting/disconnecting means of one contactor is electrically connected in parallel with a device to be protected, e.g. an electric circuit or an electric element. When a voltage of a predetermined value or more is applied to the device being protected, a current of a predetermined value or more passes through the shape memory alloy, whereby the alloy is heated to produce its shape memory effect. A shape recovering force is applied to the connecting/disconnecting means of the on contactor in a predetermined direction to separate the contactors.

    摘要: A molded case circuit breaker wherein a movable contact arm (8) is operated between open and closed positions with a stationary contact (4b) by an operating mechanism which controls an overcenter toggle drive spring (12) and which is automatically openable upon sensing overload conditions by releasing a latched lever (10) for carrying the line of action of the drive spring (12) across the pivot (8a) of the movable contact arm (8). The current sensing trip means (16) for unlatching the latched lever (10) is formed of a shape memory effect alloy to provide a significant amount of travel of the latching end thereof in response to a narrow band of current thereby to insure release of the latch lever (10) without need for calibrating the breaker. The shape memory effect element (16) is affixed at one end to a heater strap (18) for indirect heating by current flow in the distribution circuit and is provided with a flexible conductor (30) attached at its opposite end and connected with a electric power source through a remote control apparatus (32) and a current limiting resistor (34) for effecting selective direct heating of the SME element to selectively operate the breaker to its tripped position from the remote location.
