摘要: It is an object to provide a simple fuel cell system and to provide a fuel cell system capable of reducing the amount of consumption of fuel gas at the time of completion of operation. A fuel cell system includes a supply piping from a fuel gas supply source storing fuel gas to a gas inlet of a fuel cell and a circulation piping from a gas outlet of the fuel cell to a junction at which the circulation piping joins the supply piping. A regulating valve and a shut-off valve are disposed on the upstream side of the junction in the supply piping. A portion on the downstream side of the junction in the supply piping and the circulation piping are in constant communicated.

摘要: A fuel cell system and a method of operating a fuel cell system are disclosed wherein an external electric source (4) is provided to apply current to a fuel cell (1), comprised of a polymer electrolyte membrane-electrode catalyst complex having a polymer electrolyte membrane (21) sandwiched between a fuel electrode (24A) and an oxidant electrode (24B) and separators (26, 28) formed with flow channels (27, 29) to supply fuel and oxidant to the polymer electrolyte membrane-electrode catalyst complex, and operative to change a direction in which current is applied to the fuel cell (1).

摘要: A method and apparatus for housing an electronic device are provided. The apparatus includes an environmentally sealed chamber to protect the electronic device from harsh environments. The environmental conditions of the chamber are controllable using environmental controls which are controlled by digital processor with a stored program coupled with sensors. The digital processor may also control the application of power from an external interface. The apparatus also includes a self-contained power source running from a primary fuel. A control system is provided for managing power production and energy storage to maintain continuity of environmental conditions.

摘要: A fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell which generates electricity by supplying hydrogen to an anode electrode, and a reaction gas to a cathode electrode, an anode gas supply device which supplies hydrogen to the anode electrode, and a cathode gas supply device which drives a compressor using electric power generated by the fuel cell, and supplies pressurized reaction gas to the cathode electrode. The fuel cell system further includes a target pressure setting device which sets a target value for cathode pressure of the fuel cell, a correction device which corrects the target value in accordance with atmospheric pressure, and a control device which controls the cathode pressure of the fuel cell to the corrected target value. Efficient electric power generation can be performed in accordance with the ambient environment.

摘要: A fuel cell is disclosed which is formed on a semiconductor wafer by etching channel in the wafer and forming a proton exchange membrane PEM barrier in the etched channel. The barrier divides the channel into two. A hydrogen fuel is admitted into one of the divided channels and an oxidant into the other reacts with a catalyst formed on an anode electrode at the hydrogen side of the channel to release hydrogen ions (protons) which are absorbed into the PEM. The protons migrate through the PEM and recombine with return hydrogen electrons on a cathode electrode on the oxygen side of the PEM and the oxygen to form water.

摘要: Fuel cell based backup unit apparatus for storage subsystems are provided. With the apparatus, at least one fuel cell is provided as part of a fuel cell power generation array that is used to provide backup power to a storage subsystem of a computing device, such as a RAM cache. A regeneration mechanism is provided for regenerating the fuel in the at least one fuel cell. A logic and control module is provided for controlling the overall operation of the backup unit including determining when to provide backup power and when to initiate regeneration of the fuel cells. A DC/DC voltage conversion module may also be provided for converting a DC output from the fuel cell power generation array into an output useable by the storage subsystem. In a hybrid embodiment, both a fuel cell power generation array and a lead-acid battery pack cache backup array may be utilized to provide backup power for a storage subsystem. In such a hybrid embodiment, the fuel cells of the fuel cell power generation array may provide backup power to the storage subsystem and/or provide a recharge voltage for recharging the lead-acid batteries in the lead-acid battery pack cache backup array.
