Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes a first information acquisition unit, a second information acquisition unit, a third information acquisition unit, and an information embedder. The first information acquisition unit obtains target information. The second information acquisition unit obtains given information to be embedded in the target information. The third information acquisition unit obtains control information for accessing the given information. The information embedder generates embed information from the given information and the control information and embeds the embed information in the target information.
Abstract:
A digital watermark is added to audio or visual content. An illustrative embodiment permutes the content, alters the permuted content to encode a watermark, and inverse-permutes the content to return same to substantially its original form. Related watermark decoding methods are also detailed, as are ancillary features and techniques.
Abstract:
Methods of processing audio to convey auxiliary information hidden therein are provided. Various arrangements are disclosed. One alters data representing audio to include a sequence of bits of auxiliary information. The altering is based on a carrier signal and corresponding to the sequence of bits, and is based on a perceptibility threshold that varies within the data representing audio. Other arrangements are provided as well.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates generally to digital watermarking applications. One claim recites a method comprising: obtaining identifying information for a party seeking attribution for content to be distributed; using a programmed processor, digital watermarking the content with the identifying information; and associating an attribution action with the identifying information in a data repository; in which the attribution action is triggered when a rendering device decodes the digital watermarking and obtains the identifying information during a transaction, in which performing the attribution action does not occur when the content includes limited functionality for initial evaluation but said performing the royalty payment action does occur when the content is purchased or enabled for longer evaluation relative to the initial evaluation. Other claims and combinations are provided as well.
Abstract:
A method of color masking an image or video includes reading color values of an image sample of the image or video and a corresponding change of an attribute of the image sample. Based on the color values of the image sample, the change in the image sample attribute is mapped to a change in color components of the image sample that is equivalent to the change in the image sample attribute, yet reduces visibility of the change in the image sample attribute for the specific color values of the image sample
Abstract:
A method is disclosed which produces a second interactive document. A processor receives indicating data identifying a page identity of a first interactive document and locations on the first interactive document. The processor uses the page identity to identify a network address of a server storing a first page description which describes a relationship between visual elements and positions on the first interactive document. The processor then retrieves from the network address, using the locations on the first interactive document, a second page description which describes a relationship between visual elements and positions on the second interactive document. Finally a print engine is controlled to print visible elements and invisible coded data tags to provide the second interactive document. Each coded data tag encodes a page identity of the second interactive document and location of the coded data tag on the second interactive document.
Abstract:
An electronic pen for interacting with a substrate having a pattern of coded data printed thereon. The pen includes an infrared light source for illuminating an area of the substrate; an image sensor for imaging the coded data illuminated in the area; a force sensor for sensing an interaction between the pen and the substrate; a processing system configured for: determining digital ink from the imaged coded data; storing the digital ink in a memory buffer; determining whether the pen is positioned within a predetermined functional zone of the substrate; and initiating a response in the pen in the event that the pen is positioned within the predetermined functional zone. The response is initiated without reference to a remote computer system.
Abstract:
A network scanner, communication protocols, and client and server programs and are provided which provide an improved way to transmit legally binding documents, obviating the need for outmoded, legacy fax transmissions. Using the network scanner, a document may be scanned and transferred directly into any shared folder inbox residing on any computer attached to the Internet. Enhanced server systems and network communications and messaging protocols are provided that are more practical to use than email for sending documents such as executed legal documents or other documents requiring robust integrity and authenticatability. Similarly, the inventive network scanner, server systems and communication protocols provide improved ways to perform large file transfers and to manage bandwidth to minimize problems associated with uploading/downloading large files as attachments to/from email servers and for enabling user control over VoIP quality during file transmission sessions.
Abstract:
A printer system for printing pages belonging to an interactive page system includes a cartridge comprising a data storage area in which is pre-stored a range of identifiers, each identifier being unique throughout the interactive page system; and a printer comprising an interface for receiving the cartridge, a reader for reading an identifier from the range of pre-stored identifiers, a coded data generator for generating a page identifier from the identifier, and a printing mechanism for printing the page identifier onto a page. The reader reads a previously unread identifier from the range of identifiers each time the coded data generator is to generate a page identifier.
Abstract:
A method for providing interactive digital content for printed content. The method includes the steps of: receiving an image of a coded data pattern of a writing surface; determining a plurality of available applications for a particular printed content associated with the received pattern; receiving a selection from a user of a particular available application from the plurality of available applications; and executing the particular available application, the executing comprising invoking a function related to the printed content.
