Abstract: An oxygen concentrator includes one or more adsorbent sieve beds operable to remove nitrogen from air to produce concentrated oxygen gas at respective outlets thereof, a product tank fluidly coupled to the respective outlets of the sieve bed(s), a compressor operable to pressurize ambient air, one or more sieve bed flow paths from the compressor to respective inlets of the sieve bed(s), a bypass flow path from the compressor to the product tank that bypasses the sieve bed(s), and a valve unit operable to selectively allow flow of pressurized ambient air from the compressor along the one or more sieve bed flow paths and along the bypass flow path in response to a control signal. The valve unit may be controlled in response to a command issued by a ventilator based on a calculated or estimated total flow of gas and entrained air or % FiO2 of a patient.

Abstract: A vent assembly for a respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) system. The vent assembly may include a vent housing having a first orifice configured to receive the flow of pressurized gas from the RPT device and the vent housing having a plurality of holes to discharge pressurized gas to atmosphere; a vent housing connector having a second orifice configured to direct the flow of pressurized gas to the patient interface; and a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) comprising an HME housing and an HME material within the HME housing, wherein the vent housing and the vent housing connector are configured to be connected to, at least in part, form a cavity, and wherein the HME is positioned in the cavity when the vent assembly is assembled.

Abstract: A patient interface comprises a frame, a headgear, a manifold and two nasal prongs. The frame may be recessed from the face of the patient, and preferably from the manifold so that the manifold may deform or move with respect to the face of the patient. The manifold may be further configured to be compliant in the direction of engagement with the patient's face, such as in the anterior direction. These features may allow the manifold to engage with the face of the patient, such as the upper lip, without exerting a significant pressure which may lead to patient discomfort. The manifold may also be configured to be rotatable with respect to the frame, for example by a grip feature which may be configured to be held in one hand for rotation.

Abstract: A respiratory ventilation apparatus configured to deliver a respiratory gas to a patient interface is provided. The apparatus may include a gas pressurization unit configured to generate a pressurized respiratory gas, a gas inlet port configured to introduce the respiratory gas into the respiratory ventilation apparatus, a gas outlet port configured to discharge the pressurized respiratory gas to a respiration tube, a detection module configured to detect the pressure of the pressurized respiratory gas, at least one non-volatile memory configured to store a plurality of parameters and a plurality of programs, and one or more controllers. The one or more controllers may be configured to initiate the respiratory ventilation apparatus upon a boot operation, and/or initiate a program that constantly reads information from the detection module, and controls the pressure of the pressurized respiratory gas using the information read from the detection module and at least one parameter.

Abstract: The present invention provides for an improved method of determining a water out condition in a humidified gases supply apparatus. The method includes a two step process including a primary determination of a water out condition and a secondary determination of a water out condition. This primary determination is made during observation of the normal operation of the apparatus. During the secondary determination the method takes temporary control over the humidifying part of the apparatus. The secondary determination confirms or contradicts the primary determination.

Abstract: The present technology is directed to a respiratory pressure therapy system, that includes a plenum chamber pressurisable to a therapeutic pressure above ambient air pressure, a seal-forming structure to form a seal with an entrance to the patient's airways to maintain said therapeutic pressure in the plenum chamber throughout the patient's respiratory cycle in use, a positioning and stabilising structure constructed and arranged to provide an elastic force to hold the seal-forming structure in a therapeutically effective position on the patient's head, a blower configured to generate the flow of air and pressurise the plenum chamber to the therapeutic pressure, the blower having a motor, the blower being connected to the plenum chamber such that the blower is suspended from the patient's head and the axis of rotation of the motor is perpendicular to the patient's sagittal plane, and a power supply configured to provide electrical power to the blower.

Abstract: A hydrogen mixed gas generation method using a device that includes a heating pipe housing therein a reduction acceleration member and a heating part including a heating device that heats the heating pipe includes a first process and a second process. The first process includes: causing raw water to flow into the heating pipe and heating the flowing raw water to generate water vapor; heating the generated water vapor to between 500° C. to 800° C.; causing the heated water vapor to be in contact with the reduction acceleration member that is heated along with the raw water to reduce the water vapor and generate hydrogen gas. The second process includes: diluting the hydrogen gas generated in the first process to obtain hydrogen mixed gas whose concentration of hydrogen gas is between 500 ppm to 20000 ppm.
