摘要: A stabilizer bar system for an automotive vehicle includes a stabilizer bar having a circular cross section and a rigid sleeve applied to a section of the outer circumference of the stabilizer bar. The sleeve has a number of circumferentially extending grooves and lands which mate with corresponding grooves and lands formed in an inner cylindrical surface of an elastomeric bushing which is overlaid upon the sleeve. The elastomeric bushing and sleeve may be mated such that relative rotation is allowed at the interface of the bushing and sleeve. Alternatively, the bushing and sleeve may be locked so that no relative rotation may occur at the interface of the bushing and sleeve.

摘要: A hanger depending downwardly from a side of the chassis supports a torque beam and a lift spring which is mounted between a plate and the torque beam. A cross channel assembly is connected between the hangers of opposite sides of the vehicle. The forward central portion of a wishbone stabilizer assembly is connected to the center of the channel assembly by a special resilient spring and bushing assembly. The wishbone stabilizer assembly has diverging arms. The rearward end of each arm is journalled on a bushing assembly that is mounted in an axle seat assembly. Similarly, the rearward end of the torque beam is journalled on a bushing assembly that is also mounted in the axle seat assembly, and in a longitudinal direction, the stabilizer arm and the torque beam act as a parallelogram to stabilize the axle seat and maintain the pitch of the axle. An air spring is mounted between the axle seat and the chassis and is located directly above the axle. The wishbone stabilizer assembly provides a component of parallelogram stabilization and eliminates the need for a sway bar. The resulting suspension system is highly compact and free from interference with a vehicle drive shaft.

摘要: An improved vehicle front suspension assembly is disclosed utilizing pneumatic springs for use with a conventional vehicle body and frame configuration and with a conventional vehicle front axle housing and wheel assembly. A left air spring and a right air spring are included each mounted in abutment with the bottom portion of the frame of the vehicle and mounted upon the top of the axle housing of the vehicle. A stabilizer bar assembly is used having a left stabilizer bar, a right stabilizer bar and two lateral stabilizer bars, one in the rear and one in the front, which are fixedly secured with respect to the left and right stabilizer bars to form a secure overall stabilizer bar assembly. A spring support plate is fixedly secured with respect to this stabilizer assembly and is adapted to receive a front air spring mounted to the foremost top portion thereof. This front air spring if fixedly secured with respect to the frame at the upper portion thereof by being mounted directly attached to a top support member. Lateral swaying is prevented by the inclusion of a tracking bar running from the frame to the axle housing and by the firmly secured position of the front air spring.

摘要: In adapting the suspension of the Hickman U.S. Pat. No. 3,279,820 to rear drive axles with round tubular ends, conventional U-bolt clamps between the axle ends and the out-ofround torsionally rigid beam extending lengthwise of the line of vehicle travel were found inadequate. The present clamp avoids this inadequacy by providing plates fitting the top and bottom sides of each torsionally rigid bar; U-bolts embracing the corresponding round tubular axle end with their legs extending through openings in these plates; vertical spacers interposed under pressure between these plates and embracing the torsionally rigid beam and arranged between the corresponding legs; and blocks in line with the spacers and interposed under pressure between the axle end and the adjacent plate. The spacers and blocks unify the torsionally rigid beam, plates, U-bolt legs and axle to prevent destructive strains on the legs.

摘要: A suspension strut adapted to be connected between a vehicle frame and a wheeled axle. The suspension strut includes an elongated housing which is divided by a transverse wall into upper and lower sections, each of which contains a plurality of rubber pads. The opposite ends of the suspension strut are closed by end cap members which are independently adjustable for preloading the strut and are movable relative to the housing in a longitudinal direction for causing the rubber pads to be alternately compressed and expanded.

摘要: The invention disclosed herein comprises a vehicle having improved suspension systems for wheels, motorized wheels and the seat of the user. The wheel suspension system includes a sleeve housing a non-round core snugly surrounded by an elastomeric shock-absorption material. Since both ends of the sleeve have downstanding arms forming the “forks” supporting a caster axle, irregularities in the terrain encountered by the caster exert torsion upon the core; embedding the core in elastomeric material dampens the shock. The suspension system for the wheel assembly (including any motorized drive shaft) essentially includes pivot-mounting the wheel assembly (wheel-motor) beneath the chassis frame, so that irregularities in the terrain encountered by the drive wheel cause the wheel assembly to flex inwardly (for bumps) or outwardly (for holes); in the resting position there is an elastomeric bumper or compression spring horizontally mounted adjacent to a stop-plate on the pivoting cradle carrying the wheel assembly (or wheel-motor), so that further inward flexion is dampened. The seat suspension system includes elastomeric bumpers essentially acting as fulcrums, to dampen shock by absorbing it directly and by cantilevering the seat for further shock absorption.

摘要: Suspension system of a vehicle and a shock absorber assembly of the suspension system, the shock absorber assembly includes a top mount and a jounce bumper. The jounce bumper includes a main body made of an elastic material, such as a foam elastomer or rubber and a fixing element made of a second harder material. The fixing element has a wall portion that extends around the outermost upper part of the main body and at least one elastic retaining area cooperating with a respective protuberance arranged in the top mount to fix the jounce bumper to the top mount. Between the outermost upper part of the main body and the fixing element there is a gap that enables the main body to expand radially also in the area covered by the wall portion of the fixing element when the main body is compressed during use.
