    Abstract: The present invention relates to a piezoelectric linear motor that can make relatively low abrasion and accurate linear movement since stationary AC voltages are applied to two piezoelectric elements with a phase difference. The present invention provides a piezoelectric linear motor, comprising: a piezoelectric substrate having a first piezoelectric element and a second piezoelectric element, wherein AC voltages are applied to the first and second piezoelectric elements with a phase difference; a metallic elastic body having first and second elastic bodies coupled to the piezoelectric elements and a central protrusion protruded at the central portion connecting the first and second elastic bodies, wherein the central protrusion oscillates elliptically during an application of the voltage; and a mover brought into contact with the central protrusion of the metallic elastic body for a linear movement, and wherein the movement of the mover is orthogonal to the central protrusion.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal syndrome containing the step of administering a pharmaceutically effective dose of the Aceriphyllum rossii or its fractions to a subject. The present inventors confirmed that the Aceriphyllum rossii extract or its fractions of the invention prepared by using water, alcohol or a mixed solvent thereof could promote the expression of the promoter containing estrogen responsive element (ERE) and accelerated the growth of MCF-7, the human breast tissue originated cell line, suggesting that they had estrogen activity. The inventors further confirmed that the extract or its fractions of the invention had the effect of promoting osteocyte differentiation, so that they could be effectively used for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal syndrome such as hot flush, osteoporosis and phlebothrombosis caused by estrogen deficiency.

    Abstract: A spin transistor useful for device miniaturization and high-density integration is provided. The spin transistor includes: a semiconductor substrate including a channel layer; ferromagnetic source and drain disposed on the semiconductor substrate to be separated from each other and to be magnetized in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the channel layer; a gate formed on the semiconductor substrate between the source and the drain to adjust spins of electrons passing through the channel layer, wherein spin-polarized electrons are injected from the source to the channel layer, and the electrons injected into the channel layer pass though the channel layer and are injected into the drain, and wherein the spins of the electrons passing through the channel layer undergo precession due to a spin-orbit coupling induced magnetic field according to a voltage of the gate.

    Abstract: Provided is a zinc air fuel cell with enhanced cell performance, more particularly a zinc air fuel cell which includes a separator-electrode assembly including a perforated metal plate as a cathode current collector, a catalyst-coated carbon paper, a separator, a perforated metal plate as an anode current collector, and a tilted nonconductive support. Furthermore, a metal plate may be placed on the tilted nonconductive support and connected to the anode current collector in the separator-electrode assembly to enlarge the active area of the anode current collector. For the zinc air fuel cell according to the present invention, a manufacturing cost may be reduced by using a mixture of MnO2 and CeO2, which are low-priced metal oxides as catalyst materials for oxygen reduction, and by using a low-priced nylon filter, which has a micro-porous structure and shows high stability in alkaline electrolyte. According to the present invention, the performance of the zinc air fuel cell may be efficiently enhanced by using a separator-electrode assembly structure, which minimize a distance between the anode current collector and the cathode current collector, and by adding a metal plate which plays a role of an additional anode current collector on the tilted nonconductive support so as to increase the overall active area of anode current collector contacting with zinc pellets and to resultantly enhance the ionization of zinc.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of purifying olefin, the method comprising removing a small amount of acetylenic compounds contained in olefin by using pyrrolidinium-based or piperidinium-based ionic liquid mixtures comprising copper (I) halide. According to the method of the present invention, copper (I) halide is stabilized by pyrrolidinium-based or piperidinium-based ionic liquids, suppressing the oxidation of Cu(I) into Cu(II), whereby the capacity of removing acetylenic compounds can be maintained for a long time and the selective removal rate of acetylenic compounds to olefin can be significantly improved. In addition, since the ionic liquid mixtures comprising copper (I) halide used in the method of the present invention can be applied to both absorption and extraction processes, it can effectively remove acetylenic compounds from olefin in a more simple and economical way compared to the existing adsorption and membrane separation processes.
