Abstract: Continuous-time pipeline analog-to-digital converters can achieve excellent performance, and avoid sampling-related artifacts traditionally associated with discrete-time pipeline ADCs. However, the continuous-time circuitry in the ADCs can pose a challenge for digital signal reconstruction, since the transfer characteristics of the continuous-time circuitry are not as well characterized or as simple as their discrete-time counterparts. To achieve perfect digital signal reconstruction, special techniques are used to implement an effective and efficient digital filter that combines the digital output signals from the stages of the CT ADCs.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a gate driver system suitable for driving the gate voltage of one or more transistors. The gate driver system is configured to operate in a first state when the current conducted by the transistor is relatively low and in a second state when the current conducted by the transistor is relatively high. In the second state, the gate voltage is set such that the source voltage at the transistor establishes a lower voltage across a source-driven load than is the case when operating the first state, thereby reducing the level of power consumption in the load during second state operation.

Abstract: A continuous-time sampler has series-connected delay lines with intermediate output taps between the delay lines. Signal from an output tap can be buffered by an optional voltage buffer for performance. A corresponding controlled switch is provided with each output tap to connect the output tap to an output of the continuous-time sampler. The delay lines store a continuous-time input signal waveform within the propagation delays. Controlling the switches corresponding to the output taps with pulses that match the propagation delays can yield a same input signal value at the output. The continuous-time sampler effectively “holds” or provides the input signal value at the output for further processing without requiring switched-capacitor circuits that sample the input signal value onto some capacitor. In some cases, the continuous-time sampler can be a recursively-connected delay line. The continuous-time sampler can be used as the front end sampler in a variety of analog-to-digital converters.

Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure relate to a magnetic sensor system for measuring any desired combination of measuring torque, rotation angle, and turn count of a shaft. The shaft may include two portions connected by a torsion element. The system can measure rotation angle using a magnetic target coupled to the shaft that produces a magnetic field that varies as a function of rotation angle. The system can measure torque applied to the shaft by measuring the difference in rotation angles between the two portions of the shaft and factoring in a torsion coefficient. The system can track a turn count of the shaft using a multi-turn sensor. The magnetic sensor system may be part of an electric power assisted steering (EPAS) system.

Abstract: Many conventional video processing algorithms attempting to detect human presence in a video stream often generate false positives on non-human movements such as plants moving in the wind, rotating fan, etc. To reduce false positives, a technique exploiting temporal correlation of non-human movements can accurately detect human occupancy while reject non-human movements. Specifically, the technique involves performing temporal analysis on a time-series signal generated based on an accumulation of foreground maps and an accumulation of motion map and analyzing the running mean and the running variance of the time-series signal. By determining whether the time-series signal is correlated in time, the technique is able to distinguish human movements and non-human movements. Besides having superior accuracy, the technique lends itself to an efficient algorithm which can be implemented on low cost, low power digital signal processor or other suitable hardware.

Abstract: An example method to reduce data handling on lithium ion battery monitors is provided and includes receiving a request from a micro-controller for data associated with one or more cells, receiving signals corresponding to monitored properties from the cells, calculating derivative properties from the monitored properties, dividing a default data into a plurality of portions, and sending the derivative properties and one of the portions to the micro-controller according to at least a first compute logic option or a second compute logic option. The default data can include cell voltages, auxiliary inputs, stack voltage, reference output voltage, analog voltage output, analog voltage input, temperature, and reference buffer voltage. The default data is provided sequentially to the micro-controller in as many consecutive read backs as the number of portions, where each portion corresponds to the default data measured at a distinct time instant.
