The adhesive tapes include a backing layer that is adjacent to at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The backing layer typically is optically clear and includes a poly(alkylene) copolymer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is a silicone-based adhesive composition. In many embodiments, the adhesive tape is optically clear.

Abstract: The present invention is a multi-layer optically clear adhesive construction having at least one adhesive slip layer. Exemplary constructions comprise an adhesive core layer and at least one slip layer. The slip layer provides enhanced reworkability of the final assembly and also alleviates bonding process induced stress. The slip layer is represented by a curable adhesive layer having a tan delta of at least 0.8 at a temperature of 100° C. at 1 Hz. The adhesives described herein may be used in display assemblies to provide optical and mechanical coupling of substrates in the device.
