摘要： In a developing apparatus, the developing apparatus includes a developer carrying member which carries a developer and has elasticity, and a developer regulating member which regulates an amount of the developer carried on the developer carrying member, the developer regulating member having a supported part supported by a support member and a contact part which is in contact with the developer carrying member, in which the contact part has a ten point average surface roughness of larger than 2.0 μm and a maximum height surface roughness of smaller than an average particle diameter of the developer. Therefore, an amount of the developer carried on the developer carrying member can be regulated to be uniform.

摘要： A lubrication and breather system for an engine that is generally adapted for use as either a vertically-oriented crankshaft-type engine or a horizontally-oriented crankshaft-type engine. The crankcase has first and second bearing bosses supporting first and second journal portions of the crankshaft. The second bearing boss lies above the first bearing boss when the engine is of the vertical-type. The system includes a cap that is secured over the second bearing boss and cooperates with the second bearing boss to define an annular chamber for receiving splashed oil produced in the crankcase. The cap has a plurality of ribs formed thereon that reduce an amount of oil, which is entrained in the blow-by gas, sent from the annular chamber to the breather chamber. The second bearing block includes an oil feed hole, a plurality of oil sumps, and a plurality of oil return holes, with the oil return holes being of relatively smaller size. Each of the oil sumps is associated with one oil return hole. A volume of oil ordinarily remains in the oil sump to limit entry of blow-by gases into the annular chamber via the oil return holes.

摘要： A battery cell voltages are read in parallel to a capacitor for each battery block of a battery pack by the use of analog switches. The stored voltages of the capacitors are A/D-converted sequentially through the analog switches. Thereby, each cell voltage is measured with suppression of measurement error by the use of the simple flying capacitor type circuit structure, while the circuit safety is secured by providing the current limitation resistor having a large resistance value between each cell and the analog switch. A noise reduction circuit having a pair of capacitors is provided.

摘要： The invention relates to a backlight unit for liquid crystal displays, etc.; and its object is to provide a backlight unit not involving the problem that the emitted light leaks out of the optical waveguide, even when the space around the cold-cathode tubes in the light source unit for it is filled with a liquid of which the refractive index is nearly the same as that of the glass material that forms the outer wall of the cold-cathode tubes. The backlight unit comprises a housing 6 which houses cold-cathode tubes 2, 4 therein and of which the inner surface is coated with a light reflector 10; a transparent liquid filled in the housing 6; and an optical waveguide 1 made of a transparent substance and having a light-emitting surface S. The reflective surface of the light reflector 10 has a cross-section profile of X-T-U-V-W-Y, on which the light emitted by the cold-cathode tubes 2, 4 is reflected, and the thus-reflected light is led to the light-emitting surface S of the optical waveguide 1 at an incident angle not smaller than the critical angle to the surface S.

摘要： A homeotropic alignment type liquid crystal display device is provided with first and second substrates confronting each other, first and second bus lines arranged in mutually perpendicular directions on the second substrate, liquid crystals provided between the first and second substrates, and first, second and third projecting structures restricting alignment of the liquid crystals. The first projecting structures have a sloping surface which is inclined with respect to the first substrate and are provided on the first substrate in parallel with the first bus lines. The second projecting structures have a sloping surface which is inclined with respect to the second substrate and are provided on the second substrate in parallel with the first bus lines. Third projecting structures have a sloping surface which is inclined with respect to at least one of the first and second substrate and are provided on at least one of the first and second substrates with an arrangement different from the first and second projecting structures.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus has a display section formed on a first substrate. The display section including a plurality of pixels disposed in a matrix pattern, a plurality of scan lines extending in a row direction and a plurality of signal lines extending in a column direction. One pixel is connected at each cross point between the scan and signal lines and each pixel includes a semiconductor active element and a pixel electrode. A signal line driver circuit is disposed at opposite end portions in the row direction and includes semiconductor active elements for driving the scan lines. A scan line driver circuit is disposed at opposite end portions in the column direction and includes semiconductor active elements for driving the signal lines. A transparent second substrate is disposed opposing the first substrate and a liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the first and second substrates. An insulating black color shading film is formed on an inner surface of the second substrate and covers at least a partial area of the signal line driver circuit.
