Abstract:
Methods are described for providing routing updates in information-centric networks (ICNs) by using a centralized ICN routing coordination unit to exchange updated routing tables with certain popular nodes in popular node segments, by using a routing coordinator that executes an NFN execution plan, or by flooding an ICN-Route-Discovery-Request over multiple ICN route segments between first and second popular nodes, the second node selecting one of the ICN route segments and responding to the ICN-Route-Discovery-Request by sending a unicast Route-Discovery-Response to the first node over the selected one of the ICN route segments. Other methods for providing context aware forwarding for dynamic ICNs such as vehicular networks, RTT estimation for ICNs, and machine learning techniques for optimizing/compressing a forwarding information based in an ICN node are also provided.
Abstract:
To address technical problems facing producer and consumer mobility in cellular ICN/NDN networks, a technical solution includes leveraging device tracking during handover in the cellular system to optimize cache replacement and route updates during handover. This solution also improves performance by advance caching and route update during mobility handling, which reduces or eliminates interest packet flooding and latency for upcoming potential content request and retrieval. This solution also improves performance by operating based on the observed popularity of the content, and based on the mobility patterns of the consumer and producer.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for optimizing the operations of an ICN, particularly for an ICN with clustered nodes. A cluster head node may function as an orchestrator and a coordinator for efficient caching, routing, and computing and for co-existence of ICN and IP nodes in the network. A content store of an ICN router may include an indication of the time after which data expires and the new data is to be swapped in place of the expired data after that point in time. Digital rights management (DRM) enforcement is provided by managing access to a DRM engine in at least one of the ICN nodes in a cluster. Congestion control is provided by minimizing the number of ICN scoped interest requests and thereby minimizing the potentially high volume of data responses. These techniques optimize interest packet forwarding and processing through collaboration with neighboring ICN nodes.
Abstract:
Devices and methods of using a reduced complexity network protocol are generally described. An evolved NodeB (eNB) transmits an Attach Request to a mobility management entity (MME), which transmits a Create Session Request for transmission of non-IP (NIP) data of user equipment (UE) to a Packet Data Network (P-GW). The P-GW in response transmits a Create Session Response, with the UE ID if originating at the P-GW and free from a UE IP address and an Up Link Traffic Flow Template, to the MME, which transmits an Attach Accept to the eNB and UE. A UE identifier (UE ID) either originates at the UE and is transmitted in the Attach Request, or is generated by the eNB, MME or P-GW. The NIP data has a tunneling NIP data packet with a NIP header with the UE ID and a NIP user data packet free from TCP/IP encapsulation and header compression.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a network User Equipment (nUE), wearable User Equipment (wUE), and methods for sidelink communication are generally described herein. The nUE may transmit a control channel that allocates a subframe as either a downlink subframe or an uplink subframe for a sidelink communication between the nUE and a wearable User Equipment (wUE). When the control channel allocates the subframe as a downlink subframe, the nUE may contend for access to channel resources. The contention may include transmission of a transmitter resources acquisition and sounding (TAS) channel in a physical resource block (PRB) and an attempted detection of a receiver resources acquisition and sounding (RAS) channel from the wUE in the PRB. When the control channel allocates the subframe as an uplink subframe, the wUE may contend for access to the channel resources.
Abstract:
Embodiments of an Evolved Node-B (eNB), User Equipment (UE), and methods for paging are disclosed herein. The eNB may transmit a paging message that may include paging identifiers to indicate an intention of the eNB to send downlink data to the first group of UEs. The paging message may further include a bitmap of paging indicators to indicate whether the eNB intends to send downlink data to a second group of UEs. The paging message may include the bitmap when a length of the bitmap is less than a combined length of paging identifiers for a paging portion of second group of UEs to which the eNB intends to send downlink data.
Abstract:
A Long Term Evolution (LTE) protocol enhancement realizes the full benefit of dual connectivity User Equipment (UE) in LTE networks by providing a toggling mechanism to alleviate uncertainty in available transmit power, or power headroom, for uplink transmissions so that efficient utilization of the uplink radio resources can be achieved in dual connectivity. A new field for Radio Resource Control (RRC) messages enables toggling for alternating transmissions to Master and Secondary Evolved Node Bs (MeNBs and SeNBs) during alternating time periods. An enhanced Media Access Control Element enables toggling by the MeNB, SeNB or UE. In one embodiment, the UE schedules uplink transmissions to a SeNB during even numbered time divisions when the UE schedules the uplink transmissions to the MeNB during the odd numbered time divisions, or during the odd numbered time divisions when the UE schedules the uplink transmissions to the MeNB during the even numbered time divisions.
Abstract:
A 3GPP LTE protocol enhancement may realize the full benefit of dual connectivity in Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks by providing a mechanism to carry Radio Resource Control (RRC) messages and/or Information Elements (IE)s from a Secondary Evolved Node B (SeNB) to User Equipment (UE) via Master Evolved Node B (MeNB) RRC messages. Novel downlink (DL) Common Control Channel (CCCH) and Dedicated Control Channel (DCCH) messages, and augmented messages having Information Elements (IE)s for relaying RRC messages from a SeNB to a UE via a MeNB, are defined. Modifications to ASN.1 program coding of LTE 3rd Generation Partnership Project specifications to enable RRC messages from the MeNB to relay RRC information from the SeNB to the UE are provided. In one embodiment, the UE receives, from a MeNB, an RRC message comprising information relayed from a SeNB and interprets the RRC message for control channel and radio resource configuration information from the SeNB.
Abstract:
A 3GPP LTE protocol enhancement realizes the full benefit of discontinuous reception (DRX) in Long Term Evolution networks by coordinating and aligning DRX operations for conserving power and timing overhead. A dual connectivity enabled User Equipment (UE) comprising a processor and transceiver is configured to align DRX configuration between counterpart Evolved Node Bs (eNB)s, wherein counterpart eNBs are a Master eNB (MeNB) and a Secondary eNB (SeNB) simultaneously connected to the UE, communicate system frame timing and system frame number (SFN) information between the counterpart eNBs, align DRX start offset (drxStartOffset) values for the counterpart eNBs according to the communicated system frame timing and SFN information to compensate for offsets in system frame timing, and allow the start of a DRX ON duration at specific frame or sub-frame times determined by the drxStartOffset values, after the expiration of a DRX inactivity timer.
Abstract:
Embodiments of Evolved Node-B (eNBs), user equipment (UE) and methods for licensed shared access (LSA) handover are generally described herein. An eNB includes hardware processing circuitry to receive a command to release spectrum resources in a LSA band over which the eNB serves an LSA cell; to determine whether user equipment (UEs) served by the eNB are permitted to skip a random access process (RAP) to be handed over to a target cell operating on a band separate from the LSA band; and to transmit a message to a UE served by the eNB instructing the UE that the UE is to be handed over to the target cell, the message including one or more indicators based on the determination. Other apparatuses, systems and methods are also disclosed.
