Abstract:
A method of producing a MEMS device forms structure on a non-standard device wafer. To that end, the method provides the noted non-standard device wafer, which has a wafer outer diameter and a non-standard thickness. As known by those in the art, a standard device wafer has a standard thickness when its outer diameter equals the wafer outer diameter. In illustrative embodiments, however, the non-standard thickness is smaller than the standard thickness. The method then forms structure on the non-standard device wafer.
Abstract:
A die has a part that is sealed with a cap. The seal can be hermetic or non-hermetic. If hermetic, a layer of glass or metal is formed in the surface of the die, and the cap has a layer of glass or metal at a peripheral area so that, when heated, the layers form a hermetic seal. A non-hermetic seal can be formed by bonding a cap with a patterned adhesive. The cap, which can be silicon or can be a metal paddle, is electrically coupled to a fixed voltage to shield the part of the die.
Abstract:
A package for a micro-electromechanical (MEMS) device is described. A premolded leadframe base has opposing top and bottom surfaces. Each surface is defined by a topology having at least one electrically conductive portion and at least one electrically non-conductive portion, and the topology of the top surface differs from the topology of the bottom surface.
Abstract:
An optically transparent conductive material is disposed directly or indirectly on an inside surface of a cover material for static dissipation in an optical switching device. The optically transparent conductive material forms an electrically continuous film. The optically transparent conductive material can also be used for anti-reflection. An additional coating may be disposed directly or indirectly on an outside surface of the cover material.
Abstract:
An electronic game device system is switchable between an amusement mode and a gaming or gambling mode and is useful for vehicles such as airplanes or boats which move geographically from jurisdictions where gaming is legal to jurisdictions where it is not. A GPS receive can be used to automatically switch the system between the modes, dependent upon the vehicle position. An improved method of operating a touch screen on a CRT or ICD computer screen uses finger release as input registering, and also may use highlighting of a button being selected with an enlarged button area for any highlighted button. Mounting arrangements for mounting computer screens or monitors are also disclosed for mounting between a transparent table top in e.g. a lounge area, and for mounting in seatbacks of airplane or other vehicle seats.
Abstract:
Optical mirror coatings are used for high-temperature diffusion barriers and mirror shaping. Certain materials for use as high-temperature diffusion barriers under optical mirror coatings include metals that have high melting and/or boiling points and amorphous and partially recrystallized inorganic amorphous materials that have high glass transition temperatures (Tg). Candidate metals are selected based upon the boiling point or a combination of melting point and boiling point. Candidate amorphous and partially recrystallized inorganic amorphous materials are selected based upon the glass transition temperature. Optical mirrors having such high-temperature diffusion barriers maintain reflectivity when exposed to elevated temperatures, and are particularly useful in optical Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) that are exposed to high-temperature manufacturing processes. Optical mirrors are shaped using tensile and/or compressive films.
Abstract:
An in-situ cap for an integrated circuit device such as a micromachined device and a method of making such a cap by fabricating an integrated circuit element on a substrate; forming a support layer over the integrated circuit element and forming a cap structure in the support layer covering the integrated circuit element.

Abstract:
The magnetic socket holder according to the present invention includes a plurality magnets and associated posts which are adapted to receive sockets of varying sizes. The invention provides ready access to each socket and allows easy one handed removal and replacement of sockets. The magnetic socket holder includes a base having a series of recesses and magnets disposed in each of the recesses. Each of the magnets is provided with an associated post which is adapted to be receive within a socket. The posts and the magnets are preferably mounted to the base by a rivet. The magnets create a magnetic field which is sufficient to retain the sockets on the posts. While the combination of all the magnets provides a magnetic field which is sufficient to retain the socket holder and attached sockets on a support surface.
Abstract:
Preperforated tubing is produced by forming a perforation in flat strip of raw material, forming a hollow, cylindrical tube from the flat strip, and placing a removable plug into the perforation, so as to form a fluid-tight seal. A sealing element may be placed into the perforation. The perforation may comprise a hole, into which first and second countersinks may be formed. The sealing element may be placed into the first countersink, and the plug may be placed through the countersinks and the hole, such that the plug's body fills the hole and the plug's head fits within the second countersink.
