    摘要: An optical sheet has a transparent base material; a fine lens array constituted by a plurality of fine unit lenses formed on a front surface of the transparent base material; a diffusing layer formed on a rear surface of the transparent base material opposite to the surface on which the fine lens array is formed; and a light absorbing layer formed on the diffusing layer and including fine opening portions substantially located at focal points of the unit lenses; wherein: the diffusing layer is made of a transparent medium containing transparent fine particles different in refractive index from the transparent medium; and the transparent fine particles have a mean particle size in a particle size range for maximizing a value of Q/R at each of wavelengths in a visible region when Q is a scattering sectional area per transparent fine particle, and R is a radius of each of the transparent fine particles.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus having a pair of substrates of which at least one is transparent; and a liquid crystal layer supported between the pair of substrates, in which one of the pair of substrates has a plurality of row lines and a plurality of row lines, and pixels are placed corresponding to intersections of the plurality of row lines and the plurality of row lines. A first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode are provided in the pixel, and a first active element is placed in the pixel and an output terminal thereof is connected to one row line adjacent to the first pixel electrode and the pixel, and a second active element is placed in the pixel and its output is connected to the other row line adjacent to the second pixel electrode. The first and second active elements are brought into conduction during a period of writing a voltage to a liquid crystal, and the first and second active elements are brought into a high resistance state during a holding period, and a difference voltage between the adjacent row lines is applied to the liquid crystal to display an image. A capacitance between the row line and the first pixel electrode and that between the row line and the second pixel electrode are equal as to each row line adjacent to the pixel.

    摘要: An active matrix type liquid crystal display system having a liquid crystal composition being interposed between a first and a second substrates, a plurality of pixel parts being constructed with a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged in a matrix, a switching element being provided in each of the pixel parts, wherein the switching element is connected to a pixel electrode, the pixel electrode and a common electrode being so constructed as operable in keeping the major axes of the liquid crystal molecules parallel to the surface of the substrate. In the pixel part, the signal electrode and the pixel electrode is formed and a shield electrode is formed between the signal electrode and the pixel electrode. The system requires no transparent electrode, being excellent in visual angle characteristic, being high in contrast, being small in cross-talk producing probability.

    摘要: An illumination device has at least one fluorescent tube, a lower frame supporting the fluorescent tube, a light diffusion plate which opposes the lower frame with the fluorescent tube being interposed therebetween for forward diffusion of output light of the fluorescent tube, a reflection sheet disposed along the fluorescent tube side of the lower frame for reflecting the fluorescent light toward the light diffuser plate, and an upside reflector covering an electrode of the fluorescent tube for reflecting the light toward the light diffuser. When letting a direction along a length of the fluorescent tube be a horizontal direction, a distance between the fluorescent tube and the reflection sheet at at least one of nearby portions of right and left ends of the illuminator is greater than such distance at a central portion thereof. A liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus using the illuminator is also disclosed.
