摘要: Systems and methods relating to a cellular communications system having an architecture in which Serving Gateway (SGW) user plane functionality is separated from SGW control plane functionality are disclosed. In some embodiments, a cellular communications system having an architecture in which SGW user plane functionality is separated from SGW control plane functionality comprises a Serving Gateway Control plane entity (SGW-C) partitioned into a plurality of virtual SGW-Cs that correspond to a respective plurality of SGW User Plane (SGW-UP) service areas. The cellular communications system further comprises a plurality of SGW-UP pools each comprising one or more SGW User entities (SGW-Us), wherein each SGW-UP pool serves a respective one of the plurality of SGW-UP service areas. In this manner, the coordination problem between Tracking Areas (TAs) and the SGW-UP service areas is avoided.

摘要: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method of paging policy differentiation in a 5G telecommunications network is provided. A User Plane Function (UPF) receives downlink data for a target User Equipment (UE), and provides a data notification to a Session Management Function (SMF), the data notification comprising a Quality of Service (QoS) indicator, which the SMF uses to determine QoS Information (QoSI) that is sent to an Access Management Function (AMF). The AMF determines whether a paging policy selection should be performed by the AMF or by a Radio Access Node (RAN) that serves the target UE: if by the AMF, the AMF selects a paging policy based on the QoSI and sends a paging message to the RAN, which pages the UE; if by the RAN, the AMF provides paging policy information to the RAN, which selects a paging policy and pages the UE accordingly.

摘要: A first network node controls WLAN accesses and a second network node controls cellular network accesses. The first network node (NN) records a time of a last radio contact event of a user equipment (UE) with respect to a WLAN access controlled by the first NN. In response to a request from a third NN, the first NN indicates the recorded time of the last radio contact event to the third NN. The second NN records a time of a last radio contact event of the UE with respect to a cellular network access controlled by the second NN. In response to a request from the third NN, the second NN indicates the recorded time of the last radio contact event to the third NN. The third NN can use the indicated times to determine whether the UE is attached to a WLAN access or to a cellular network access.
