Compositions having a combination of specific biological components have been found to exert a number of useful effects in mammalian cells, including modulating TGF β signaling, apoptosis, and proliferation of mammalian cells, as well as decreasing inflammation in mice. These components can be obtained commercially, or can be prepared from biological tissues such as placental tissues. Placental amniotic membrane (AM) preparations described herein include AM pieces, AM extracts, AM jelly, AM stroma, and mixtures of these compositions with additional components. The compositions can be used to treat various diseases, such as wound healing, inflammation and angiogenesis-related diseases.

The present invention discloses a method for performing a frame erasure concealment to a higher-band signal, including: calculating a periodic intensity of a higher-band signal with respect to a lower-band signal; judging whether the periodic intensity of the higher-band signal is higher than or equal to a preconfigured threshold; if the periodic intensity of the higher-band signal is higher than or equal to the preconfigured threshold, using a pitch period repetition method to perform the frame erasure concealment to the higher-band signal of a current lost frame; and if the periodic intensity of the higher-band signal is lower than the preconfigured threshold, using a previous frame data repetition method to perform the frame erasure concealment to the higher-band signal of the current lost frame. The present invention further discloses a device for performing a frame erasure concealment to a higher-band signal and a speech decoder. The problem that the quality of the voice signal is lowered is avoided.

Nanoparticle-based vaccines, compositions, kits and methods are used for the effective delivery of one or more antigens in vivo for vaccination and antibody (e.g., monoclonal antibody) production, and for the effective delivery of peptides, proteins, siRNA, RNA or DNA to PAPCs or MHC class II positive cells (e.g. tumor cells). Antigens may be, for example, DNA that results in expression of the gene of interest and induction of a robust and specific immune response to the expressed protein in a subject (e.g., mammal). Antigens may also be immunogenic peptides or polypeptides that are processed and presented. In one embodiment, a nanoparticle -based method to deliver antigens in vivo as described herein includes injection of a vaccine composed of a DNA encoding at least one antigen, or at least one antigenic peptide or polypeptide conjugated to a charged dendrimer (e.g., PADRE-derivatized dendrimer) that is also conjugated to a T helper epitope (e.g., PADRE). Negatively-charged plasmids bind naturally to a positively-charged PADRE-dendrimer, while peptide or polypeptide antigens can be chemically linked to the PADRE-dendrimer if they are not negatively-charged. Alternatively, negatively-charged dendrimers may be used. The compositions, kits, vaccines and methods described herein have both prophylactic and treatment applications, i.e., can be used as a prophylactic to prevent onset of a disease or condition in a subject, as well as to treat a subject having a disease or condition. A vaccine as described herein can be used to mount an immune response against any infectious pathogen or cancer.

A content recommendation system and method are provided in which content semantic topic analysis, user interest identification and per interest recommendations are used to deliver relevant and diversified content recommendations to the user. Semantic topic analysis is used to infer underlying topics in content items; for each content item, a topic distribution vector is derived with components that represent relevance of the content item to specific underlying topics. A user's long term and short term user interests are identified using the user's browsing history. Long term user interest(s) can be obtained by a weighted aggregation of topic distribution vectors of content items the user accessed. Short term interest can be represented by the topic distribution vector corresponding to a current content item. Using identified user's interests, relevant content items are selected for recommendations for the user.
