摘要： A smoking article having reduced ignition propensity is disclosed. The smoking article includes a tobacco column, a wrapper surrounding the tobacco column and a filter element. The wrapper has a base permeability, an untreated area and a least one discrete area treated with a composition to reducing the base permeability. The discretely treated area interacts with a coal of a burning tobacco firecone as it advances to self-extinguish the smoking article. The composition of the treated area includes a permeability reducing substance, a burn rate retarding substance and a burn rate accelerating substance. Either the burn rate retarding substance or the burn rate accelerating substance acts as an organoleptic enhancing substance. In this way a smoker's experience when smoking either the at least one treated area or the untreated area is substantially the same.

摘要： A reversibly actuatable fluid hydraulic pump is described for use in a hydraulically driven elevator. The pump comprises a cylinder and a piston linearly actuatable within the cylinder by a ball screw race disposed over a spindle and connected to the piston. The shaft of the piston is hollow to receive the spindle as the piston is drawn along by virtue of the motion of the race along the spindle, and seals are provided at the free end of the piston which sealingly engage against the walls of the cylinder, and on the cylinder which sealingly engage with the shaft of the piston. A further feature of the invention is the provision of a compressible gas between the end of the cylinder and the end of the piston so that the expansion thereof reduces the work required to move the piston out of the cylinder, whereas when the system is relaxing, the compressible gas provides extra resistance and thus a smoother motion.

摘要： Elbow and knee guards are used in sports in which the athlete must expect regular contact with the ground or floor. This guard utilizes hinged resilient members along the lateral direction of the joint and sliding slots which allow the guard to both rotate and deflect along the longitudinal direction. As the knee or elbow is flexed, the skin stretches in the longitudinal direction carrying the resilient members along and consequently the guard stretches and changes its shape to match the shape of the limb. The aluminum hinges allow the joint to flex in the lateral direction. The guard does not don the limb and thus eliminates chafing. The guard is placed over the knee or elbow. By pressing on the guard with the hands, the aluminum hinges will deform until the guard conforms to the contour of the surface.

摘要： The present invention provides a housing for an auxiliary circuit to be connected to a main circuit. The housing includes a heat tab for conducting the heat away from the auxiliary circuit components and an insulating case which is molded together with the heat tab to interlock the heat tab to the case. The case is molded around a chamfered edge of the heat tab. The insulating case includes a back and two sides extending from the back to define an area which contains the auxiliary circuit components. The heat tab is molded into the back and faces the component area so heat generated from the components can be spread to the main circuit by the heat tab. Openings may be provided through the back of the insulating case. The heat tab and legs on the sides of the housing are used to mount the power supply to a circuit board.

摘要： This greenhouse watering apparatus has a horizontal support member running centrally for the length of the greenhouse, suspended from above, as from the roof of the greenhouse. A carriage depends from the support member and has trolley wheels rolling along two opposite upper surface portions of the support member in such a way that the suspension of the support member does not interfere with back-and-forth movement of the carriage. A drive wheel moves the carriage along the support member, while a rotary hose reel supported by the carriage reels in or unreels a flexible hose as required. The hose is maximally reeled when the carriage is midway between the ends of the support member and is minimally reeled when the carriage is at either end. During reeling the reel is driven by a slip clutch, which slips during unreeling. A pair of booms, one on each side of the reel, extend out hroizontally, perpendicular to the support member, and each boom is provided with a series of spray nozzles. The hose supplies water to a central inlet pipe associated with the reel and from there through a rotary coupling to the booms and nozzles. Water may be conducted alternately to the nozzles of one boom and then to those of the other as the carriage travels in one direction and the opposite direction, in order to avoid overwatering at the ends of the greenhouse.
