摘要: Systems and methods of estimating movement of anatomical structures of a new patient include learning one or more deformation models from preoperative and intraoperative imaging data of a set of other patients and estimating movement of anatomical structures of the new patient based on the one or more deformation models and preoperative imaging data of the new patient. Estimating movement of the anatomical structures may include applying deformation models to map data derived from preoperative imaging data of a new patient to obtain deformed map data for each deformation model, and determining the deformation model that best fits the intraoperative imaging data of the new patient. Applying a deformation model to map data may include applying a transformation to the deformation model and interpolating to obtain a deformed map data. Registration is computed between locations of a medical device sampled during navigation of the medical device through the new patient and the original and deformed map data. The map data which fits the 3D locations the best is applied to the targets of the new patient.

摘要: A method of modeling lungs of a patient includes acquiring computed tomography data of a patient's lungs, storing a software application within a memory associated with a computer, the computer having a processor configured to execute the software application, executing the software application to differentiate tissue located within the patient's lung using the acquired CT data, generate a 3-D model of the patient's lungs based on the acquired CT data and the differentiated tissue, apply a material property to each tissue of the differentiated tissue within the generated 3-D model, generate a mesh of the 3-D model of the patient's lungs, calculate a displacement of the patient's lungs in a collapsed state based on the material property applied to the differentiated tissue and the generated mesh of the generated 3-D model, and display a collapsed lung model of the patient's lungs based on the calculated displacement of the patient's lungs.

摘要: A robotic surgical instrument includes a housing having a shaft extending therefrom. A spring compression assembly is supported within the housing and includes: a proximal hub configured to secure a drive rod disposed therethrough, the proximal hub including teeth; a distal hub spaced from the proximal hub and including teeth; and a compression spring mounted between the proximal and distal hubs. A drive gear includes a proximal portion extending therefrom having threads disposed thereabout configured to engage the teeth of the proximal and distal hubs such that rotation thereof translates the hubs relative to one another and actuates the end effector assembly. A thumb wheel is included that has a portion exposed outside the housing for external manipulation thereof. The thumb wheel is selectively positionable between a disengaged position spaced relative to the drive gear and an engaged position to matingly engage the drive gear.

摘要: A surgical system includes a surgical instrument, a motion sensor, and a computing device. The surgical instrument includes a housing, an end effector assembly distally-spaced from the housing, and a movable component movable relative to the housing. The motion sensor is disposed on or within the housing and configured to sense a vibration signature associated with movement of the movable component relative to the housing. The computing device communicates with the motion sensor, is configured to receive the vibration signature therefrom, and is configured to determine a condition of the movable component based on the vibration signature. A method of monitoring a surgical instrument includes sensing a vibration signature generated from movement of a movable component of a surgical instrument relative to a housing of the surgical instrument, and determining, based on the sensed vibration signature, a condition of the movable component.

摘要: An ultrasonic surgical system includes an ultrasonic instrument configured to seal a vessel and including an ultrasonically-activatable blade and a jaw member pivotably movable with respect to the blade, an endoscope configured to capture video data of a surgical site including the blade and the jaw member, and a processor connected to the endoscope. The processor is configured to process the video data to determine an angle between the blade and the jaw member, determine a desired energy level based on the angle, and provide the desired ultrasonic energy as a feedback to the ultrasonic instrument. The ultrasonic instrument performs a closed-loop control to maintain the desired ultrasonic energy.

摘要: An instrument drive unit for use in a robotic surgical system includes a carriage configured to be coupled to a robotic arm, a hub rotationally coupled to the carriage and configured to be non-rotatably coupled to an electromechanical surgical instrument, a plurality of electric motors disposed within the carriage, a plurality of drive shafts rotationally supported in the hub, and a plurality of drive gears. Each electric motor includes a stator and a rotor disposed within the stator. Each drive gear is fixed to a corresponding drive shaft and is configured for interfacing with a corresponding driven member of the electromechanical surgical instrument. Each rotor is configured to rotate a corresponding drive gear in response to an activation of a respective electric motor to actuate a function of the electromechanical surgical instrument.
