摘要: A method and apparatus for reducing blood flow to an aneurysm proximate to a bifurcation having a source blood vessel a first branch vessel and a second branch vessel, the method comprising: providing a first mesh-like tube of bio-compatible material, the first mesh-like tube exhibiting a porosity index pre-selected to skew blood flow about the bifurcation away from the aneurysm; inserting the first mesh-like tube into the source blood vessel and the first branch vessel; and securing the first mesh-like tube to at least one of the source blood vessel and the first branch vessel, whereby blood flowing from the source blood vessel flows without undue impedance to the first branch vessel and the second branch vessel while being skewed away from the aneurysm.

摘要: A stent structure (30) particularly for use in treating cerebral aneurysms is provided with a fibrous coating (34) which reduces the permeability of the underlying stent (32) to an extent that the flow through the stent structure is sufficiently suppressed to allow for resorbtion of an aneurysm while still providing sufficient flow through the stent structure to allow for flow into the perforator vessels. The fibrous coating may have different permeabilities in different zones of the underlying stent (32). The coating could be applied to other devices such as filters and occluders.

摘要: An implantable flow restrictor device is disclosed for initially restricting, then gradually restoring blood flow through a body vessel after an interventional procedure. A self-expanding annular member having a constricted diameter gives the device a frustoconical configuration that reduces blood flow therethrough upon initial deployment at a treatment site. The annular member is constricted by a plurality of linkages that operate to allow the annular member to gradually expand, thereby transforming the flow restrictor device to a cylindrical configuration that allows unimpeded blood flow therethrough. In one embodiment, expansion of the annular member is achieved via biodegradation of the linkages. In another embodiment, expansion of the annular member is achieved via creep deformation of the linkages. The flow restrictor device may be attached to an endoluminal prosthesis, or may be a separate complementary component that is delivered during an interventional procedure.

摘要: A tool for facilitating access to the inside of a vessel and/or surgery on a vessel or an organ connected to the vessel. The vessel has a proximal end and a distal end, while the tool has a substantially cylindrical band and an arm. The band has a deployed configuration capable of opening the proximal portion of the vessel. The arm is connected to the band and has a deployed configuration capable of at least partially flattening the distal end of the vessel to improve the view inside the vessel. When deployed in a vessel, the tool holds the vessel in an open configuration and provides the physician with a surgical operating field, and the ability to pass a prosthesis through said tool and in a desired location within an organ.
