摘要： Sleeve molding apparatus and methods for making multi-layer injection molded plastic articles in successive mold cavities. In a first molding step, an inner sleeve is molded on a core in a first mold cavity, which may comprise a full body length sleeve or only a partial sleeve, such as an upper neck finish portion. The sleeve and core are withdrawn from the first mold cavity while the sleeve is still warm, and transferred without substantial delay to a second mold cavity for injection molding an outer layer which bonds to the inner sleeve. By transferring the sleeve at an elevated temperature into the second mold cavity, an improved bond is formed between the inner sleeve and outer layer which resists separation during a later reheat stretch blow molding step, and/or in use of the resulting article. In a preferred embodiment, a pasteurizable beer container is provided having a finish-only sleeve of a PEN polymer. In a second embodiment, a returnable and refillable water container is provided having a full-length body sleeve of a PEN polymer. A multi-station injection molding apparatus is provided having a transfer mechanism, such as a rotatable turret or reciprocating shuttle, for cost-effective manufacture of preforms simultaneously in multiple cavity sets.

摘要： A method and apparatus for fusing a pour spout to the surrounding surface of a lid or container during the molding process. During molding the hot molten plastic of the lid or container contacts a relatively thick rim portion at the bottom of the pour spout to meet the thick rim portion and create fusing during the cooling of the mold. The pour spout has a flexible section to permit a portion of the fused pour spout to be moved between collapsed and extended positions.

摘要： A method of manufacturing and assembling a first and a second object wherein the first object is made by bringing a flowable compound into a first object shape and then subjecting the flowable compound to a hardening process that results in a change of a chemical composition of the flowable compound, thereby creating the first object or a part thereof. Then, the first object is positioned relative to a second object, and a flow portion of the hardened article of the modified compound is caused to become flowable by an input of energy. An interpenetration zone of the flow portion and structures of the second object is created, and the flow portion is allowed to re-solidify, whereby the interpenetration zone between the re-solidified flow portion and the structures of the second object secures the first and second objects to each other.
