Abstract:
The invention relates to the extrusion of tire components with a large change of gauge across their cross-sectional area. It is provided a method and an assembly for extruding such a tire component with an extruder feeding a flow channel with a downstream die opening, whereby a deflector is provided in the flow channel upstream the die opening such that a flow of rubber is slowed down in front of broad portions of the cross-sectional area of the downstream die, avoiding distortion or bending of the extruded tire component.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to extrusion dies for making extruded synthetic wood and methods relating thereto. The dies include adapter dies, transition dies, stranding dies, and molding dies. The adapter dies include a channel with a restricted cross-sectional area. The stranding dies include a plurality of non-uniform channels that differ in length, cross-sectional area, cross-sectional shape, or combinations thereof. The transition dies are coordinately configured with the stranding die to adjust the flow rate of the extrudate. Particular configurations of dies upstream of the molding die allow for higher compression ratios in the molding die than previously feasible. Each of the dies described herein may be used individually with standard dies known in the alt. Alternatively, the dies may be used in combination to form integrated units. The dies described herein allow for making stronger, more consistent synthetic wood at greater output rates than previously possible.
Abstract:
A half-mold for a corrugator for making pipes with transverse ribs. The half-mold comprises two sides located spaced apart from each other and a semi-cylindrical base surface linking the two sides. Directly mounted forming elements bent in the shape of a semicircle which define the outer surface of the pipe with transverse ribs are removably fixed on the base surface. The directly mounted forming elements bent in the shape of a semicircle are removably fixed with fixing elements on the half-mold.
Abstract:
A main mouth of a brick molding machine is disclosed. In a main mouth installed between a pressing unit of a brick molding machine and a mold in an assembled structure, the main mouth of a brick molding machine comprises a bolt insertion hole that passes through two opposing sides among upper and lower sides and left and right sides between inlet and outlet parts of a mouth body; a resistance member that includes an attaching surface attached to an inner surface of the mouth body having the bolt insertion hole therein, and a resistance surface protruded in a direction of an inner surface of the mouth body; a nut member embedded in the attaching surface of the resistance member with a part of the same being exposed; and an engaging bolt that is inserted from an outer side of the mouth body through the bolt insertion hole and thread-engaged with the nut member embedded in the resistance member for thereby fixing the resistance member to an inner surface of the mouth body.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method to adjust the dimensions of thermoplastic components following passage of the component through final processing in a fixture. The invention particularly relates to an apparatus for maintaining product tolerances on thermoplastic components that have undergone post-form extrusion. In addition, the invention relates to a method for maintaining product tolerances on post-form extruded thermoplastic materials.

Abstract:
The present invention comprises an improved extruder die assembly and method for using same to improve the quality of dimensional design aspects of extruded, complexly shaped, direct expanded food products. The improved system includes an improved extruder die assembly comprising an imprinting insert element having a first aperture defined therethrough and at least one prong extending into the first aperture, and a forming insert element having a second aperture defined therethrough and positioned downstream from the imprinting insert element, wherein the shape of the second aperture is defined by at least one projection extending into the second aperture, and wherein each of the at least one projection aligns with a prong when the first and second apertures are coaxially aligned. The improved extruder die assembly of the present invention is designed for adaptation to a wide variety of commercial-grade extrusion devices common in the food industry.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a moulding system (3), in particular a calibration die (17), for an extrusion plant, with preferably parallel inlet and outlet faces (28, 29) spaced at a distance apart and with side faces (30, 31, 32, 33) extending between them. A longitudinal axis for the object to be fed through a calibration orifice (24) is disposed substantially perpendicular to the inlet and outlet face (28, 29). Provided between a shaping surface (25, 26) and a side face (30, 31, 32, 33) is a gap (37, 38) extending at least across a part of the distance between the inlet and outlet face (28, 29). The gap (37, 38) is disposed between several immediately adjacent parts of several shaping surfaces (26) of the calibration orifice (24) and at least one of the side faces (30, 31, 32, 33). At least the parts of the shaping surfaces (26) co-operating with the gap (37, 38) are displaceable relative to the other shaping surfaces (25).
Abstract:
A soap plodder nozzle plate assembly for obtaining a striated soap extrusion showing stripe definition without requiring trimming through a soap plodder having an extrusion outlet through which a mass of soap is extruded. The assembly includes a nozzle plate for final shaping the mass of soap and a nozzle plate holder. The nozzle plate has a sharply inwardly tapering aperture of lesser dimension than that of said extrusion outlet.
Abstract:
An improved rotary head extruder incorporates a twin auger system, in lieu of the typically used single auger, to create random extruded products having a density within the range of about 3.0 to about 6.0 lbs/cu ft. Extrusion using the rotary die system of a rotary head extruder together with the twin auger system allows for a wide variety of fine materials to be successfully introduced into and conveyed within a rotary head extruder to the die assembly, where the materials are cooked to form random extruded products. A transition piece at the downstream end of the augers allows for continuous, uniform flow to the die assembly, where cooking takes place. The extruded products incorporate formulations with various ingredients aside from the typically used corn meal formulations, having different tastes and nutritional benefits while maintaining the desired bulk density, texture, and crunch of random extruded products.
