摘要:
An injector for delivering fuel to a combustion engine in which the pump chamber of each fuel pump has a volume adjustable by control means, is provided with a displacer body which is connected to an armature of an electromagnet. The stroke of the displacer body is limited by an adjustable stop and should be influenced as less as possible by wear due to stopping a considerable mass of the armature every time. In order to expose the injector less to wear the displacer body is coupled with the armature through an elastic coupling.

Process minimizes the production of undesirable elements in the engine exhaust by operating the engine with an overall rich mixture air/fuel ratio combustion without air throttling at full load operation, and a progressive fuel supply cutback as the load decreases without air throttling until a desired air-fuel ratio leanness is reached, at which point air throttling is introduced to maintain the air/fuel ratio constant regardless of further decrease in load.

Engines and methods execute a high efficiency hybrid cycle, which is implemented in a volume within an engine. The cycle includes isochoric heat addition and over-expansion of the volume within the engine, wherein the volume is reduced in a compression portion of the cycle from a first quantity to a second quantity, the volume is held substantially constant at the second quantity during a heat addition portion of the cycle, and the volume is increased in an expansion portion of the cycle to a third quantity, the third quantity being larger than the first quantity.

A method of controlling an air to fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine may include receiving a request for a modification of a first flow of fuel to at least one combustion chamber, modifying the first flow of fuel in response to the request, receiving a first signal indicative of a first air supply condition, displacing a second flow of fuel in response to receiving the signal and controlling the modification of the first flow of fuel by the displacement of the second flow of fuel.
