摘要: A combustor for burning waste material includes a horizontally extended combustion chamber through which a mixture of waste material and air is introduced under pressure tangentially for establishing a vortical movement of the waste material, and is ignited during its vortical movement. A second discharge port extends for discharging from the chamber non-combustible waste material, to a separator which separates the discharged gases and solid material. A secondary air manifold supplies air through controlled dampers at portals positioned at intervals along the length of the chamber. An adjustable baffle is mounted internally on the flue adjacent its open end for deflecting outwardly toward the side wall any combustible material not yet destroyed. A recuperator is mounted externally to the chamber on the exhaust flue, supplying heated air used with primary air flow. Additionally, control means are provided for the use of sensors to monitor the chamber conditions.

摘要: In apparatus and method for waste treatment by pyrolysis, treated waste is flushed through a grid (18) to trap recyclable material in the pyrolysis chamber (24). Pyrolysis is carried out at a temperature of from 400-700° C. and off-gases are dissolved in a solution in scrubber (13) for disposal in a water course. Water is introduced into the chamber as superheated steam via pipes (5) so as both to flush away treated material and clean the chamber. Recyclable waste is separated from non-recyclable by treating non-recyclable waste by pyrolysis, and flushing treated non-recyclable waste away through liquid exhaust (8). Apparatus is made as a modular, free-standing unit and comprises plugs for connection to an electricity supply, to a water supply, and to a sewerage system (16) and has a chamber with a volume in the range 0.01-0.5 m3.

摘要: A ground flare for treating waste gas comprises a rectangular enclosure including opposing first and second side walls and opposing first and second end walls. The first and second side walls have a greater length than the first and second end walls. At least one air opening is formed in each of the first and second side walls for receiving air. At least one burner extends horizontally through each of the at least one air opening and into the enclosure. Each burner includes a fuel port disposed inside of the enclosure for injecting the waste gas into the enclosure.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for processing waste incineration ashes, in particular domestic waste incineration ashes, in which a process for classifying the ashes and a process for recovering phosphates from the ashes are combined. In said method, the ashes are subjected to a wet classification process during which the ashes are mixed with a liquid, and the ashes are treated with an acidic aqueous solution to redissolve the phosphates, whereupon the phosphates contained in the solution are isolated. The liquid with which the ashes are mixed during the wet classification process is the acidic aqueous solution with which the ashes are treated to redissolve the phosphates.

摘要: A fluidized bed is described and which includes a multiplicity of fluidizing manifolds positioned in spaced relation one relative to the others; an enclosure positioned in gravity receiving relation relative to the multiplicity of fluidizing manifolds and which has an intake and a discharge end, and wherein particulate matter received in the fluidized bed moves under the influence of gravity from the intake end to the discharge end, and a moveable gate is mounted on the second discharge end of the enclosure and which is operable to selectively occlude a discharge aperture and which further facilitates the selective removal of particulate matter and waste material entrained with same, and which moves under the influence of gravity to the discharge end thereof.

摘要: A muffler is provided that air or gas flows through to attenuate acoustic oscillations and reduce sound levels. An inner vortex and an outer vortex are created within the device that reduce noise within the rotating flow of gases. The gases flow in the outer vortex from an inlet in a live end of the housing toward a dead end of the housing. A projection is provided in the dead end of the housing that creates a low pressure area that causes the formation of the inner vortex flowing from the dead end toward the live end to an outlet.

摘要: Frames for mounting windows within the walls of enclosures for isolating or sealing substances such as radioactive or other hazardous substances from the surrounding environment. In a first embodiment of the present invention, a window assembly includes a two-piece frame that is welded into the wall of an enclosure. In a second embodiment of the present invention, a window assembly includes a three-piece frame that is clamped to the wall of an enclosure. The frame assemblies may also be used to mount structures other than windows to enclosure walls, such as ducts or pipes intended for passing power, gas, vacuum, or other utilities into the interior of an enclosure.

摘要: Recovery of air bag inflator metal cases. An inflator processing apparatus configured to process a gas-generating chemical-containing inflator for automobile air bags, by heating the inflator to a temperature not lower than an operating temperature of the chemical to facilitate recovery of the metal inflator case. In the apparatus, a protective metal partition wall is provided between an inner surface of a wall of an inflator-processing furnace and the chemical-containing inflator. This prevents damage to the refractory furnace wall, and also prevents melting of the metal inflator case, which could otherwise be occasioned by the chemical during thermal processing of the inflator containing the gas-generating chemical.
