The present invention is a tinted, optical adhesive for use in making plasma display filters comprising a substantially acid free, pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) containing a narrow-band, visible spectrum dye (e.g. less than 30 nm bandwidth) and a broader-band, near infra-red spectrum dye (e.g. greater than 200 nm), the second dye providing enhanced thermal stability as well as near infra-red (NIR) blocking. Further, acid-free adhesives offer improved stability of light control dyes. In the present invention, porphyrin-based dyes combined with acrylate-based, pressure-sensitive optical adhesives are preferred. Invention offers reduced number of functional layers in an optical filter structure as well as reduced number of manufacturing (lamination) steps in the optical filter/plasma display assembly process.

A plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel having a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate and sealed thereto, and a plasma discharge structure disposed between the first and second substrates. A chassis base is positioned close to the plasma display panel at one surface side and in parallel with the panel. A driving circuit is mounted on the opposite surface side of the chassis base and electrically connected to the plasma display panel to drive the panel. The first and second substrates of the plasma display panel have chamfered portions formed along the edges of the first and second substrate surfaces that face away from each other.

Forming partition wall structures on the back substrate of the paste display panel and forming the column-shaped protrusions at the positions corresponding to the cuts on the rib on the front substrate of the plasma display panel. The manufacturing process is simple and the alignment of the front and back substrate is easy. In addition, the size of the opening of the rib and the size of the cut can be easily adjusted according to the needs of the application during the manufacturing process.

This invention is a method of forming ribs of a plasma display panel by transfer-printing a glass paste on a glass substrate. The method comprises; forming a recess having a configuration corresponding to ribs arranged in parallel with each other and a joining element joining the ribs, filling the recess with the glass paste, and starting transfer-printing the glass paste on the glass substrate from a portion of the glass paste corresponding to the joining element filled in the recess. The method ensures that the glass paste comes off substantially completely from within the recess as it is being transfer-printed on the glass substrate and that the ribs are formed with high precision.

The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a plasma panel tile, comprising the deposition of electrodes, using a paste comprising a metal powder and a mineral binder, and the baking of the deposited electrodes. According to the invention, the composition of the mineral binder and the baking conditions are tailored so that, after the deposited electrodes have been baked, the binder is in the recrystallized state. Owing to the recrystallized state of the binder, the yellowing problems which occur during subsequent heat treatments are eliminated.
