At least a portion of the bore may have a diameter which is at least one of substantially equal to and less than a diameter of a hose to be leak-tested.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for leak testing of liquid and non-liquid filled rigid and semi-rigid nonporous containers wherein a container is enclosed in a conforming test chamber and subjected to vacuum while the pressure within the chamber is monitored by an absolute pressure transducer, alone or in combination with a second differential transducer, to determine if leaks are present in the container and wherein the test apparatus or system remains under low pressure or vacuum conditions while leak tests are not actively in progress such that the system is maintained at an at-rest low vacuum condition to minimize pressure sensor drift and to eliminate build-up of vapors or gases within the apparatus or test system between tests that may hinder the speed and sensitivity of the leak tests.

    摘要: Improved high speed helium leak-detection system for storage tanks comprising a mobile enclosure for operation of electrical components of leak detection sensors in Class 1, Division 1, Group D hazardous locations, comprising a rapid exchange purge assembly having pressure control valves, pressure reference controller and vent, a mechanically actuated vortex-type cooler, a helium leak detector having a pumping manifold connected to a sniffer probe hose to provide sample gas from the tank probe to a pair of pumps oriented in parallel. The first pump, downstream of the helium leak detector, draws a sample through the detector, and a second pump provides a rapid transfer of probe sample. The enclosure includes a controller, display and alarm. The enclosure is maintained overpressure to prevent infiltration of hazardous vapors and is continuously purged with com-pressed air. The system provides response time of about 2 seconds, a 5-fold improvement over current systems.

    摘要: A leak detector contains a pump that withdraws gas from a volume into which a tracer gas is leaking. The volume may also contain small amounts of air or other gas in addition to the tracer gas. Downstream from the pump, a flow restriction creates a back pressure between this restriction and the outlet of the pump, the back pressure being determined by the pressure in the test volume, the pumping speed, and the nature of the flow restriction. The flow restriction may be fixed, such as an orifice or a section of a capillary tube, or it may be variable, such as a needle valve. In many cases, the back pressure may be adjusted to approximately one atmosphere, allowing the use there of various conventional gas sensors that are designed to operate at one atmosphere. The invention may also be used for general gas analysis problems.
