    摘要: An electrical device such as a panel meter with a body including an abutment, is inserted through an opening in a panel with the abutment on one side of the panel, and is secured to the panel with a nut plate on the other side of the panel. The body of the meter has plural teeth, discontinuous around the periphery of the body and the teeth extend from opposite sides of the body. The nut plate has an opening with flexible sides to enable snapping the nut plate over the body and teeth to a position abutting the panel to clamp the meter to the panel. Portions of the opening in the nut plate are enlarged so that moving the nut plate to a position in which the body teeth are adjacent the enlarged portions of the opening releases the nut to permit immediate and rapid removal of the meter from the panel. There are several teeth at each side of the body to enable mounting and securing the meter in panels of substantially different thicknesses. Spacers on a front face of the nut plate permit the resilient sides of the nut plate to be snapped over the meter body teeth close to the panel while spacing the nut plate from the panel so the nut plate exerts a bias or pull on the meter which maintains the meter firmly in position on the panel, irrespective of the thickness of the panel.

    摘要: An ultrasonic track testing carriage for movement along rails in operative relationship with a test vehicle is disclosed and includes a pair of wheel frames each having guide means for following the gauge side of the rail and ultrasonic sensing means mounted in working relationship with a portion of the rail for detecting changes in the rail and the position of the sensing means relative to the rail with a main frame disposed between the wheel frames and adapted to be coupled to the test vehicle for movement therewith. Interconnecting means extends between the main frame and each of the wheel frames so as to permit each wheel frame independent freedom of motion relative to the main frame in a plane substantially perpendicular to the gauge side of the rail while simultaneously maintaining parallelism between the wheel frames. The ultrasonic sensing means associated with each wheel frame is adapted to be adjusted in a vertical, lateral and angular plane relative to the rail being inspected.

    摘要: This invention comprises a rotatable annular probe-positioner which carries at least one radially disposed sensing probe, such as a Pitot tube having a right-angled tip. The positioner can be coaxially and rotatably mounted within a compressor casing or the like and then actuated to orient the sensing probe as required to make measurements at selected stations in the annulus between the positioner and compressor casing. The positioner can be actuated to (a) selectively move the probe along its own axis, (b) adjust the yaw angle of the right-angled probe tip, and (c) revolve the probe about the axis common to the positioner and casing. A cam plate engages a cam-follower portion of the probe and normally rotates with the positioner. The positioner includes a first-motor-driven ring gear which effects slidable movement of the probe by rotating the positioner at a time when an external pneumatic cylinder is actuated to engage the cam plate and hold it stationary. When the pneumatic cylinder is not actuated, this ring gear can be driven to revolve the positioner and thus the probe to a desired circumferential location about the above-mentioned common axis. A second motor-driven ring gear included in the positioner can be driven to rotate the probe about its axis, thus adjusting the yaw angle of the probe tip. The positioner can be used in highly corrosive atmosphere, such as gaseous uranium hexafluoride.

    摘要: A clamp suitable for attachment to a pipe or column is connected to the housing of a laser surveying instrument with adjustment means for horizontal rotation about a vertical axis and independent rotation about a horizontal axis. A micrometer adjustment sets the angle between the level vial and the optic axis so that the laser beam can be set at a desired percent of grade by means of the bubble level. This is particularly useful in establishing the grade of pipes and conduits. The column may be fixed in position in a variety of ways. One means is to support the column as the ''''fourth leg'''' of a surveyor''s tripod. Another is to support the column on a plate or any firm support with a screw jack extension compressed against a horizontal surface such as the top of a pipe. Another means employs an extensible compression bar which engages the walls of a manhole. The column is clamped to the compression bar. As a modification of the last-mentioned means, the bottom of the column on which the laser is clamped rests on a threaded post in a plate resting on the bottom of the manhole. By using the threaded post as a jack; the assembly may be rigidly held between the three contact points. Since the instrument is usually removed for overnight storage, a second clamp may be attached to the column to provide a reference surface for resetting the laser in its original position. When the instrument is replaced, the second clamp insures that the elevation and direction of the instrument are the same as on the previous day.

    摘要: A bracket, which is adapted to be mounted in an opening formed in a wall, has a pair of tab members which are threadedly mounted on an associated pair of screws positioned in the bracket. The tab members are restrained for sliding motion relative to the bracket within a pair of slots formed in the bracket wherein each slot has a long edge and a short edge. As the screws are rotated in one direction, the tabs advance through the slots in a rearward direction. When each of the tabs clears the short edge of the associated slot, the tab is permitted to rotate 180* to position clamping surfaces associated therewith in opposed relation to a plurality of flanges rigidly attached to the bracket and spaced forwardly of the tab. When the tab is in this position, portions of the wall adjacent to the opening are positioned between each flange and the clamping surfaces of the associated tab. Upon rotating the screws in the opposite direction, the tabs advance through the associated slots in the forward direction to clamp the edge of the opening in the wall between the tabs and the flanges, thereby mounting the bracket in the opening.
