Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for simultaneous analysis of radiocarbon and tritium, the method including (i) mixing a radioactive waste sample containing a radiocarbon nuclide and tritiated water, and an oxidizing agent; (ii) oxidizing the radiocarbon nuclide in the radioactive waste sample to a gas containing an oxide of the radiocarbon nuclide by the oxidizing agent while suppressing volatilization of compounds containing gamma radionuclides other than the radiocarbon nuclide and tritium; (iii) discharging the gas containing an oxide of the radiocarbon nuclide by injecting an inert gas to the mixture; (iv) vaporizing and discharging the tritiated water in the mixture; and (v) analyzing radioactivity of radiocarbon and tritium from the discharged gas containing an oxide of the radiocarbon nuclide and tritiated water, and an apparatus for analysis of the same.

Abstract: Systems and methods for combined atmospheric water extraction and atmospheric carbon capture are provided. Fan(s) are adapted circulate ambient air to one or more atmospheric water extraction devices and atmospheric carbon capture devices. Water extracted from the atmosphere is heated to produce steam, which is used to release carbon absorbed by the atmospheric carbon capture devices for use in carbon storage and/or fuel production. The system may be powered by renewable energy sources. Water extracted from the atmosphere also undergoes electrolysis to isolate hydrogen, such as for use in fuel production.

Abstract: A carbon capture system can include a plurality of CO2 thermal swing adsorption (TSA) beds. The plurality of CO2 TSA beds can include at least a first TSA bed, a second TSA bed, and a third TSA bed configured to capture CO2 within a capture temperature range and to regenerate the captured CO2 at a regeneration temperature range above the capture temperature range. The carbon capture system can include a plurality of valves and associated flow paths configured to allow switching operational modes of each of the first, second, and third TSA beds.

Abstract: A gas separation unit is disclosed for the separation of a first gas from a mixture containing said first gas as well as further gases by a cyclic adsorption/desorption process using a loose particulate sorbent material for gas adsorption. The plurality of particulate active material constructs are arranged in at least two stacked layers that are mounted on a stiff rectangular circumferential frame. Each layer of the particulate active material construct includes two sheets of a flexible fabric material which is hydrophobic and gas permeable but impermeable to a loose particulate active material for gas adsorption. A plurality of tubes is provided for a heat exchange fluid within the frame. The frame structure is provided with a plurality of holes through which the plurality of tubes penetrate.

Abstract: Disclosed is a flue gas low-temperature adsorption denitration system and process. The system includes a booster fan, a cold energy recoverer, a flue gas cooling system, a flue gas switching valve, and two denitration adsorption towers. An inlet of the booster fan is in communication with an inlet flue gas pipeline. The booster fan, the cold energy recoverer, the flue gas cooling system, the flue gas switching valve, and the denitration adsorption towers are sequentially communicated. An outlet of the flue gas switching valve is in communication with each of the two second denitration adsorption towers. Flue gas outlets of the two denitration adsorption towers are in communication with a flue gas manifold. The flue gas manifold is communicated with the cold quantity recoverer. Two denitration adsorption towers take turns to carry out denitration and regeneration processes, so that continuous denitration operations of the system can be achieved.

The acidic gas adsorbent of the present invention includes a porous body, and an amine compound being a solid and being supported on surfaces of pores of the porous body. The acidic gas adsorbent includes, for example, a cover layer covering the surfaces of the pores of the porous body, and the cover layer includes the amine compound. As an example, when each pore of the porous body is assumed to have a spherical shape, the cover layer has a thickness of 5.0 nm or less, the thickness being calculated from the average pore diameter of the porous body, the pore volume of the porous body, and the pore volume of the acidic gas adsorbent.

Abstract: System and method for removing molecular contaminants from an air stream are disclosed. The system includes first, second and third filter. The first filter removes organic contaminants from an air stream passing through the first filter. The second filter is downstream of the first filter, is physically and chemically exchangeable with the first filter and removes organic contaminants from the air stream output of the first filter. The third filter, downstream of the second filter, is not exchangeable with the first filter or the second filter. The first position filter can be replaced by the second filter in the second position when the first filter in the first position becomes depleted as detected. A new filter in the second filter position is inserted. Replacing the depleted first filter with the second downstream filter reduces costs and waste while inserting the new filter in the second position ensures removing organic contaminants.
