摘要: An energy storage system converts variable renewable electricity (VRE) to continuous heat at over 1000° C. Intermittent electrical energy heats a solid medium. Heat from the solid medium is delivered continuously on demand. An array of bricks incorporating internal radiation cavities is directly heated by thermal radiation. The cavities facilitate rapid, uniform heating via reradiation. Heat delivery via flowing gas establishes a thermocline which maintains high outlet temperature throughout discharge. Gas flows through structured pathways within the array, delivering heat which may be used for processes including calcination, hydrogen electrolysis, steam generation, and thermal power generation and cogeneration. Groups of thermal storage arrays may be controlled and operated at high temperatures without thermal runaway via deep-discharge sequencing. Forecast-based control enables continuous, year-round heat supply using current and advance information of weather and VRE availability. High-voltage DC power conversion and distribution circuitry improves the efficiency of VRE power transfer into the system.

The method includes determining a temperature of the heat exchanger at a first selected location, controlling a temperature of a corrosion sensing device to a first selected temperature based on the temperature of the surface of the heat exchanger and determining a corrosion rate associated with the heat exchanger surface at the first selected location for the first selected temperature. The method also includes comparing the corrosion rate to an expected corrosion rate, determining a cold side fluid inlet temperature target for the heat exchanger based at least in part on the comparing, the determined corrosion; and controlling a cold side fluid inlet temperature based at least in part on the determined inlet temperature target, determined corrosion rate, and expected corrosion rate.

摘要: A dual fluid heat exchange system is presented that provides a stable output temperature for a heated fluid while minimizing the output temperature of a cooled fluid. The heated and cooled fluids are brought into thermal contact with each other within a tank. The output temperature of the warmed fluid is maintained at a stable temperature by a re-circulation loop that connects directly to the mid portion of the tank such that the re-circulated fluid flow primarily warms only a re-circulation section of the tank. The other, lower flow rate, section of the tank may be positioned so that it has a cooler temperature and thus serves to increase the efficiency of the heat exchange by extracting extra heat energy out of the cooled fluid before it leaves the tank. Alternatively, the low flow rate section of the tank may be warmer than the re-circulated section, and thus allow the re-circulated section to be cooler than the output temperature of the warmed fluid.

摘要: A hybrid tank and tankless hot water system with an inlet bypass and an outlet bypass are configurable between a hybrid heater configuration and an on-demand configuration. In the hybrid heater configuration, the inlet bypass supplies cold water to a cold water inlet of a storage tank and the outlet bypass supplies hot water from an outlet manifold to a recirculation inlet of the storage tank. 摘要: The disclosed technology includes a controller configured to control an output of one or more boilers to reduce temperature overshoot of the boiler system. The controller can receive temperature data, a threshold temperature value, and a maximum temperature value, and determine whether the temperature of the water in the boiler system is greater than or equal to a threshold temperature. The controller can also determine a number of operating boilers that were operating when the threshold temperature was reached and determine a temperature increment value based on the threshold temperature, the maximum temperature, and the number of operating boilers. The controller can output a control signal to a boiler to reduce an output of the boiler based on the temperature increment value and the temperature data to reduce overshoot of the boiler system.
