摘要: An engine control device, which is adapted for an engine provided with an NOx-absorbing material arranged in an exhaust passage for absorbing NOx in an oxygen-rich atmosphere, and releasing NOx and absorbing sulfur content when the oxygen concentration drops, includes a discriminator for judging whether the amount of sulfur absorbed by the NOx-absorbing material has reached a prescribed quantity, and a reductant concentration controller which increases the temperature of the NOx-absorbing material by decreasing a quantity related to EGR ratio for desulfurizing the NOx-absorbing material based on the result of judgment made by the discriminator. When the quantity related to the EGR ratio is decreased, the temperature of exhaust gas increases. Consequently, the temperature of the NOx-absorbing material increases and the sulfur in the NOx-absorbing material is freed and released.

摘要: A catalyst has a base catalyst layer containing platinum and barium as precious metal supported by alumina and an over catalyst layer containing platinum and rhodium as precious metal supported by zeolitr. The platinum and rhodium in the over catalyst layer activate NOx and HC so as to make them more reactive in terms of energy, and the barium in the base catalyst layer makes the platinum be more dispersive in the base catalyst layer. Under the existence of dispersive platinum, NOx in exhaust gas is decomposed and purified by reaction with reactive NO.sub.2 and partially oxidized HC generated in the over catalyst layer.

摘要: An object is to elevate the NOx cleaning rate and heat resistance of an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst complex which comprises a noble metal catalyst supported on zeolite. Ni is supported in the form of NiO powder on said zeolite. Said NiO acts as a cocatalyst without the coverage of the activation site of the catalyst complex and closure of the gas passage by said NiO so as to elevate the NOx cleaning rate and heat resistance.

摘要: An exhaust gas purifying system for an automobile engine is equipped with a metal zeolite catalytic converter for deoxidizing and purifying nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas. The system controls and compulsorily changes the air-fuel ratio of the fuel mixture injected into the automobile engine based on a target air-fuel ratio only when the temperature of the exhaust gas, before entering the catalyst, is greater than a specific temperature.

摘要: Two different members, such as a silicon nitride member and a carbide alloy member or a metal member, is attached with a joining member interposed therebetween and is heated at a preselected temperature higher than approximately 1,000.degree. C. under a vacuum or in a reducing atmosphere to be joined together as an integral member. The joining member in the form of a thin layer is made up of a material consisting of a gold-copper (Au-Cu) alloy and titanium (Ti) having a content of 1 to 30, desirably 10 to 30, weight percent of the joining layer.
