An outdoor enclosure for air handling equipment is adaptable to accept add-on air handling equipment by virtue of a two-position cover panel. The cover panel has a generally rectangular shape and is attached to a side panel of the enclosure. The cover panel is selectively mountable in either a vertical position to cover a fresh air opening through the side panel or in an open position to uncover the opening. The cover is opened by pivoting it about its upper horizontal edge which is located just above the opening and swinging its lower edge outwardly away from the side panel. An add-on mist elimination filter is installed in a generally horizontal position betweeen the cover panel's lower edge and the lower edge of the side panel's opening. In the open position, the cover panel serves as a rain sheltering hood over the filter while the opening allows fresh outside air to be drawn into the suction side of a fan located inside the enclosure. The two-position cover panel facilitates the conversion of the enclosure while minimizing the need for special, single-purpose panels.

Guayule resin is sulfurized such that it has a high softening point of at least 70.degree. C. The sulfurized guayule resin can be utilized in association with conventional rubbers and the end results in improved properties such as reduced hysteresis loss, increased tensile strength and the like.

Rubber compositions and metal-reinforced rubber ply members have improved metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention. The improvement comprises admixing from about 0.5 to about 10.0 parts per hundred rubber (phr) of bis(2-mercaptobenzothiazato) nickel with a vulcanizable rubber composition prior to combining the metal and rubber and then curing. A method for improving the metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention between a vulcanizable rubber and metal member includes the step of dispersing from about 0.5 to about 10.0 phr of nickel in a vulcanizable rubber composition prior to curing.

A method for improving metal adhesion and metal adhesion properties between a vulcanizable rubber composition and brass or zinc or brass-plated or zinc-plated metallic reinforcing elements includes dispersing from about 0.5 to about 12.5 parts by weight of an organic salt of nickel or cobalt per 100 parts of rubber component in a sulfur vulcanizable rubber composition and dispersing from about 0.5 to 15 parts by weight of a thermosetting two-step phenolic resin per 100 parts of the rubber component in the same rubber composition prior to curing.

Naturally occurring dark, tacky, low softening thermoplastic resins of low acid number can be used as substitutes for all or part of the non-elastomeric petroleum-derived components of rubber stocks used for manufacture of tires and other rubber articles. For example, such resins can be used to replace petroleum-derived process oils or resins, or both, used in making tires. The resins, which are derived from wood, are low softening thermoplastic resins characterized by having about 15-30% unsaponifiables, 3-20% rosin acids, 3-15% fatty acids and 5-15% sterols. A typical useful resin is commerically available under the name Pamak TP.

Electroconductive tin oxide coatings are deposited by an airless method of spraying a liquid composition of a thermally decomposable tin compound onto a hot glass surface in order to prevent overspray of the liquid coating composition onto the opposite glass surface.

A roofing membrane comprising an olefinic rubber; and from about 20 to about 250 parts by weight of a silica filler per 100 parts by weight rubber; wherein the silica filler is chemically coupled to the olefinic rubber; and wherein the roofing membrane is non-black.

A magnetoresistive solid-state storage device (MRAM) performs error correction coding (ECC) of stored information. Since currently available MRAM devices are subject to physical failures, data storage arrangements are described to minimize the affect of those failures on the stored ECC encoded data, including storing all bits of each symbol in storage cells 16 in one row 12 (FIG. 3), or in at least two rows 12 but using storage cells 16 in the same columns 14 (FIG. 4). Sets of bits taken from each row 12 are allocated to different codewords 204 (FIG. 5) and the order of allocation can be rotated (FIG. 6). A second level of error checking can be applied by adding a parity bit 226 to each symbol 206 (FIG. 7).
